which part of WE ARE SPENDING WAY TOO MUCH DAMN MONEY do you leftists not understand? You cannot solve this by simply taxing rich people as it only pays for running the democrat government spending policies for under 10 days.

We must decrease our spending habits to more sustainable levels. That's like saying to yourself, hmmm we are going broke and have no more money to spend. How will we get out of debt? Well, I could either max out all my credit cards and keep applying for more credit or I can stop spending so much money. Republicans believe in cutting spending and allowing the private sector to do what it is supposed to do. Democrats believe in maxing out the credit cards and then applying for more credit cards to max out.

Why do anything right if you can't bind those after you to continue top do the right thing? Great question.

I wish I could give another answer than "it's the right thing to do".

You can also stop cutting your pay for no good reason.

Austerity strictly speaking doesn't necessarily mean revenue increases, that's more about fiscal responsibility/balancing the budget, which the Republicans aren't really interested in doing, lest they lose their boogeyman.

Do you not understand the structural vs cyclical issue? I really think you don't.

I will say this. I at one point was a college student working long shifts to help pay for college. I was making minimum wage and pulled 220 a week pre tax. After tax I was at 180. Im sorry but I cant pay 20% of my income in tax. I think tax should only be applicable to people that make over X. Think about it, I pay another 7% on all my purchases. that's 27$ of all my income in taxes on minimum wage. The amount of tax is absurd. on top of that my dad is rich and since I live in his house I don't get financial aid. just because my dad has money dosent mean he is using it for my college. And on top of that, I can get a job at the school book store because im not on financial aid. the postion hasn't been filled for 2 semesters. Im the only person that wants it and yet I cant get it. There is a big problem with the financial situation for college students, how do we fix it I don't know, but it sure as hell isint working

Don't worry. In 6 hours all of your taxes will go up and you'll be even more screwed.

Its not fair that I have to carry the load for you. Pay your fair share.

I look back at the tax rates of 1913 and feel jealous. ugh

Except he's not. I've pulled many links and sources backing up statements and proving fraud of unemployment and food stamps. Yet, no one responded to them because it was a fact.

Just because someone is eligible doesn't mean that the system isn't flawed. Congrats. That's just food stamp trafficking. Give me some time to get my other laptop fired up which has a lot of other information saved to it and I'll dig something up that contradicts your argument.

Giving out 60 million that isn't needed? This proves both of my points. 1. The system is flawed and 2. People are abusing it(receiving and using money that they don't need)

edit: I think this may be from the same link that LTK used in the Romney thread. If it is, it's funny how he left out this part and quotes what he wants.
Nationally, $3.53 of every $100 in assistance goes to someone who shouldn't get it, either because he or she earns too much or is no longer eligible."

We have to get rid of the welfare system. It is only 96.5% efficient!

If it were a third that efficient, I'd label it a whopping success
