Geo Magnetic Ball Detents?

I'm sorry if this has been covered somewhere else, i searched the forums and tried google but couldn't find anything. Ive heard that the stock detents on an ego can go on you pretty fast. Is this an issue on geo and even if it isn't, does any company make magnetic ball detents for the geo. Thanks for any info you guys send my way.

Dont know where you get that from, but the detents are pretty good for the egos and geo. And they last for a long time.

Just make sure you are not dry firing alot as it can damage the detents prematurely. ... Plus a detent is not expensive to replace

kila made a magnet detents for the ego6/etek but i found i was having more chops in my chamber... So got rid of it.

Yep, if anyone were going to make magnetic detents for the Geo, then it would most likely be Kila, but as of yet they haven't.

Kila detents work very well in some markers, but as oki stated, they have a somewhat chequered history when it comes to Egos - a fair number of people have reported issues with them.

just stock up in detents... they're fairly cheap... and IMO, I don't think they need changing that often.

Couple of thoughts in relation to the stock detents. You can smear just a tiny amount of oil on them to reduce friction between the bolt tip o-ring and detents, to reduce wear and tear. Don't use a lot though, or it could effect the flight of the ball.

If you still have issues, clipping the very tip of the detents (just the last 0.5mm or so) has been known to help, by reducing the degree of contact between the o-rings and detents. Just make sure to get the length of both detents the same, as that could also potentially effect the flight of the ball.

I've never had a problem with the stock detents, but I did hear that Kila had Geo detents in the works. Haven't gotten an update in a while though....

How are people having issues with detents breaking? I very rarely have a detent break. I've replaced maybe 1 detent a year.

I'm guessing most of it is people who take the bolt out and run a swab through the breach multiple times. I usually don't run anything through the breach until I get home and I've taken off the eye covers and removed the eyes and detents. But running something harder than paintballs through the breech is the only way I can think of for someone to have problems with detents breaking.

While looking at multiple threads I've seen different people post about losing a detent after the second time out blah blah blah... But as you guys have pointed out it's more likely a user issue than a craftsmanship problem. Im saving up now for a geo bc i like everything i hear about it aka, it's perfect stock out of the box just has to be broken in. A far cry from the A-5 I've been rocking for the last 2 years. lol.

Just to report similar findings, I have never had a detent break on me...as a precaution I replace my detents once a year at the end of the season just to make sure I have good working and non-bent detents...I think some of the problems people have is that they leave their bolt in the forward position, causing the detents to bend...if done for a long enough time the detents can be permanently pushed forward, which could impact accuracy and the function of the detents leading to chops. But if you ensure that when you pack your gun away the bolt is pushed back you should be good to go.

Another thing you might have been reading about is that the early EGOs had detents that were not as stiff. those DID cause some issues, but PE remedied the problem. Today's detents (and really anything from EGO6 on) are much sturdier. I dont think a single player on my team has ever broken a detent in 4 years.

The '06+ detents also have a larger base than the '05 Ego detents, and so are less likely to get pulled in to the breech.

That's pretty insightful. That would potentially cause weakening.

Its funny how something you do so often like making sure your bolt is not forward when packing up.... You end up taking for granted the possible problem you may cause if you did leave it forwars

Just to note, my Ego7 would shear off a detent once every couple of cases. Maybe once a month I'd have to replace one.

My Geo on the other hand has well over 100,000 shots and I have never replaced a detent or had any problems!
