Buying Empire Axe,upgrade question?

Been out the game for a long time, just getting back into it an I like the Axe.Is there any upgrades that are necessary right off the bat or should a good 14" .684 bore barrel like a dye ultra lite be fine for now.Not really trying to break the bank but I like my gun to operate as smooth as possible but on a budget.Any input on things I should know about this gun to look out for also

I'd say just a good barrel and run it off an LP output tank.

Now, if you do upgrade other things down the road, there are products you'll be investing in and products you'll be wasting money on.

Bolts?

BOSS and Lurker have the game down. TechT, NDZ, Rufus Dawg all make sub-par stuff compared to them.

Barrels?

Well, there are a ton. The prime and most budget friendly (coincidentally) option is the Lurker Eigenbarrel.

I'd say after an Axe, my 2 main digs would be a .684 eigenbarrel (and a .678 if you're willing) and the BOSS infamous/XSV bolt or the Lurker Eigenbolt.

Other things, like say your foregrip feels awkward, Nummech has a magnificent and comfortable grip extender which can also be angled, I think, in the near future.

Triggers? I've tried an element. I'd suggest his before I'd even suggest a Violent, although the Violents are godly as well as the Acid Customs triggers. I have plenty by both manufacturers and can't say enough good about them.

I third this. My eigenbolt has brought me to 2 +/- on the chrono. The eigenbarrel also helps a ton with it, making it super quiet and consistent. LurkerPB ftw.

The only thing I'd change is the barrel.....

Everything else is great stock.....

Do you honestly care how efficient the marker is when you are playing rec ball with free all day air? Who gives a **** if you can get a hopper and 1 more pod.

The marker is very quiet stock with my lurker barrel or my dye UL on it.

People who use 2 or more pods a game or play games back to back. How could you get an axe that inefficient you'd really have to try.

The Axe doesn't need anything at all out of the box, just paint and air and you're ready to play.

Maybe a new barrel if you want different bore sizes.

If you want it to be smoother, try the Boss or Lurker bolts, they're both pretty cheap upgrades. Mine's totally stock and there's nothing I feel needs to change on it.

I dont think you understand what I was stating. I was stating, who gives a **** if a bolt will get you a extra pod or hopper when all you are playing right now is recball. Almost all places I have seen for recball have free all day air with admission....

I would stick to stock internals, aftermarket internals have always given me problems and never given the performance advertised here on pbn. I'm sure someone will try to say that I don't know how to maintain my guns and thats the problem or something foolish like that, but in reality it was the aftermarket parts causing the problems with 100% certainty.

New bolt is unnecessary...set the axe up right, throw on an aftermarket barrel (and extenze or long tank reg) and you'll be set. Rocked a similar setup all year, shooting fools is butter with this gun.

I found that the Custom Products barrels match Empire's anno very well. I have a dust black one for my dust black Axe and matches 100%. As far as out of the box I did not like the stock feedneck at all. I got the Empire Nano one and found it to be a good replacement. I also had to ad an Axetenze drop back rail for mine because of how long my arms are. If you have the long arms that drop back rail is a must IMO.

you should play with it stock several times before you buy any upgrades. at least enough to get used to it, not just 1-2 times. you might find it works great as-is and theres no need to spend extra money on things that arent really an "upgrade".

Think I'm just going to go with a good .684 DYE ultra lite barrel or a Barrel kit as only upgrade first off and just play and if I get really serious maybe get some upgrades.Talked to a pro the other day an he played numerous games with a stock axe with just nano feed neck, trigger, and barrel as his only upgrades and said he has never chopped a ball in the gun and it shoots great and he loves the gun.So barrel will probably be my only mod for a while, thanks guys

the barrel will not prevent getting any chops.

however .684 is a good choice, i havent had to use anything bigger than that in 2 years.

No the barrel has nothing to do with it the gun just performs so well in basic stock form that it doesn't chop paint.I can't wait to get my gun I'm ordering it this Friday

I play recball.

of the 17 fields I play at, 11 of them have back to back games in 2s or 3s.

That means 2 or 3 games before filling up.

Say you use 2 pods per game.

Oh ****, looks like you'll be super low on air, OR if you aren't the marker aficionado or mechanic like all people should be anyways, you'll end up walking off from running out of air.

Not only is best efficiency a virtue in itself, but in order to have the best air efficiency, you'll have to have the lowest air consumption per shot, right? That requires a lower reciprocating mass, air pressure and dwell times. That means cycles can be made quicker and softer on paint at the same time. That means you will have a softer and quieter shot and better shot to shot consistency.

Well look at that.
