Straight Edge is a sin.

it honestly is. Straight Edge in its root form is just as bad as being somebodys who's not edge. Your not doing anything illegal but they are allowed to have pre-marital sex (i have many friends who think thats legitimate) and they are not living for God or glorifying him.

I have a few edge friends who are also christian, they claim to be edge for God...but God should be the only reason you dont do anything, not so you can claim a fad.

I've been thinking of coming up with a controversial speech/message called "Straight Edge is a sin". I have many, many edge friends (near a dozen) and it would be wayy confrontational but good.

they're a joke. One of my best friends is edge.

Sorry Chris, but that made no sense whatsoever. Please clarify how it is a sin, why you think having premarital sex is ok (causing sXe members to "sin" I assume) and the rest.

Most straightedge principles reflect Christianity. The only one I've heard that creates conflict is the whole "no promiscuous sex" deal, because sex before marriage period is a sin.

My apologies. I jammed that out real quick. it was early in the mornin, i wanted to shower and i did not want to rant about how sXe is a sin. I'll try and elaborate though.

The Bible says if you do not stand for me then you are against me. Sure, sXe may be based off of christian beliefs, but if thats the case, why make a sub-category unrelating to God. Does that not sound like a sin? It may not be working against God, but it doesnt work for him.

sXe people are also allowed to cuss.. I heard a song today that blaired out "Straight f-ing Edge". It was a dank song...however, the cussing was very excessive.

Did i elaborate enough? I hope I did, if not, please let me know and i'll try to expand on it even more ( i feel theres still a bit left I could say [that is, im not burnt-out on it])

xtra: i may be wrong here, but I'll take a stab at it anyway... sounds like you're making a very generalized statement regarding sXe, and it's "members" (for lack of a better term).
I don't see how any group, organization, club, etc that upholds decent "morals" as key in life can be seen as a sin. Maybe if you say that sXe has become a "god" to an individual, but then again so can anything in life...
so what sXe as a whole says premarital sex is OK... most everyone i know and hang out with say it's ok... so what they cuss/curse, so do i, and plenty of other christians...
if a person can find belonging in a certain group or sect, and that groups ideals are positive and more or less in line with christian practice, what's the harm?

Alot of kids go edge just to follow the "scene" fad,
but i know maybe 2 or 3 kids who dont care what people think of them and their edge because they want to.

But what pisses me off is when kids wear sXe tee-shirts and draw big *** X's on their hands...honostly...kids that do drugs dont draw big *** marijuana leaves on their hands...no one cares if you dont do drugs...just like no one cares if you DO drugs.

I never said a person couldnt be straight edge for God. My friends myspace "about me" reads, and i quote:
"I'm Torin
I'm 16
I'm a follower of Jesus Christ
I'm straight edge for my God"

The problem is when kids put straight edge before their God...which he does sometimes
