Mazda 3 is the best that you posted, and they are fun little cars. I'd stay away from Hyundai and Kia of that year. Won't be your best choice. The autotrader links didn't work for me?

I concur. My 2005 Hyundai Sonata has 120k miles and has only had minor maintenance done on it. Hyundai was doing fine with their cars then.
I'd go with Mazda 3 or the Tibby.
Edit: I'm seeing cars as follow.
Saab
Mazda
Hyundai
Kia
Eclipse
No Subaru.

Still, taking all things into factor its slow, ugly, and girly. And based on reliability it loses in that category also. They feel cheap and gross on the inside compared to the other things he is comparing them to.
The Saab is probably my best bet. It's practical (the hatch is cavernous), less miles than the Mazda, and also has heated seats. However the Mazda is at a more reputable place. Either way I can't go wrong though.
Saab is a win-lose situation, your either ganna get a saab that never breaks, or a saab that always breaks. And they are expensive to fix. Defiantly go with the mazda3. Or that impreza you mentioned.
yes but a car can run 300k miles on the same engine if it's been maintained properly. I have 215k on a ford taurus right now.
You can probably find a mazda3 with less miles on it if you looked around a little. Check out craigslist.
Maintenance history is always a huge plus. Of the mass amount of cars I've driven on the lot, I honestly have yet to drive one of those so I am in no position to judge. However Nissan is a solid company and i'm sure that is a plenty reliable car.
