Project: Banshee (AKA just something weird I've been working on)

UPDATE:
Here are what may be the last photos, as I'm not sure anything new can be publicly posted until I have it patented.

Right Side-

Front End-

A better back of frame shot-

And the end you won't want to see in person-

Well, I've been designing this for 6 yrs or so, and only gathering/making parts off/on for a year or so, but I've gotten a fair amount closer to a functional proof of concept, so I thought I'd share pictures of this, ugly, ugly, strange looking thing.

Keep in mind, I've put no effort into cleaning it up and making it look nice. The 3 parts for the ram mount I just finished and need to clean up the cuts on, as all I have at my disposal is a drill press, hack saw, files, and elbow grease (The trigger was made w/o the use of power tools).

Close up of the ram mount. The autofocus on my wife's new camera was acting up, so it's blurry.

And yes, there's no feedneck or room for a feedneck. I've got something different up my sleeve

I forgot to add that the battery is only located there to test the electronics. It will be moved eventually, and in the next incarnation, there will be no ram, and the solenoid will be moved to the grip frame.

Added new pics:

Rearview with a 14" barrel:

07-09-08 Additions, forgive the white blotches... I'm not ready for you guys to see TOO much.

Right side shot, notice the new frame

A new one of the "business end"

The work I did to make the membrane pad fit the Angel frame...

And...

Looking good. One of the best "Freaky Frankenstein" markers I have seen in a while.

I assume you are going to do a rear breach feed?

I've designed a PCP valve I'll be having made eventually, but to test the "bolt system" (which will presently remain undisclosed), I'm going to run it on an MQ2.

No, not rear breach fed. Fed like nothing ever seen.

It'll use a hopper, but one which I've designed heavy modifications to.

And here's a render of the bulk of the end product of the next version. (I'm too cheap to buy Maxwell, I know)

I could make a video, I've got a nice DV cam. However, I'm afraid it'd just be a video of it sitting there. The "bolt system" isn't finished yet. Believe me, I'll post a video of it shooting the day that it shoots its first paintball. I've got a good reason to believe I could set some ROF w/ paint records.

If it looks like your rendering I would seriously buy it. Hit me up if you would.

I still use my putfile account. If only you could see what I've set to private!

I think I'll be fine getting it working. There's only 1 part I'll have to have professionally machined. I also figured out a way to eliminate the ram altogether, but that'll wait for a later revision. I'm glad it's starting to take some physical shape. With any luck, I'll have a video of it posted by mid to late summer.

hey

wats up, it was nice talking to you the other day for quite some time. You wanting a halo with a broken feedneck wouldn't have anything to do with your feedsystem desgin now would it?

okay Ri0T, I'll be 'that guy' and ask what your timeline is. Pneumagger may have tips on how to fend off the masses so you can get some work done on it

I'm currently paying well into the 4 figure mark on medical expenses every month, (long story), so timelines are difficult.

Right now, I need:
To: buy an MQ2 (to test the feed system until I get that working, then I'll work on the valve I designed)
To make 3 parts I have stock material for
To get a small amount of additional round stock (either aluminum or delrin, either will work)
To have one part made that exceeds my abilities
To make one last part, and modify a Halo shell (yep, the feed system is what I want the shell for).

That'll be it. Hopefully, I'll have the order for that one machined part sent off by mid-May. I can probably do some testing after I make 3 simple parts using current stock. If so, I'll update the first post.

So, completion and bragging... hopefully mid to late summer. It's been long enough in the making, and I've finally stopped messing around with about 98% of the design. There's a big part of me that won't let go of that 2%. It could work better, faster, more efficiently, I swear there's a way...

I had a tough time leaving the design of mine alone as well. Once I got to the point that I was sure that the concept was sound and kinks had been addressed, I said 'pencils down'. Now I have to cope with the fact that I get less than 2 hours a week in the shop to make it...but slow and steady it shall go if it needs to.

How much delrin do you need? I have 12" of 1" diameter. I was planning on using all of it, but may not need all of it. If you want a place to look, I got mine for a touch under $10 shipped on ebay in somebody's store.
