Tinting your lens step by step

Correct website i used is linked below. This website will sell by the foot

Ok this will describe how to sucessfully tint your lens with the average car window tint. I have only attempted this on Event lens and Flex lens due to their flat surface. They are not multi curved like a profiler lens or grillz lens.

Tools needed:
Sharp sissors
Exact-O-Knife with multi blades
Good hard surface to cut on
Car Window Tint (this is where I bought my tint from, you'll have to email the company to get a FtxFt price qoute, http://stores.ebay.com/XtremeCity)
Squeegee, rubber works the best
Scotch tape
paper, pencil, ruler
baby shampo/water mix(used for applying the tint to your lens)

Ok I'm going try to keep this simple as i can. If your just looking to tint the whole lens with no fancy stuff on it, this is how you do it.

1)
First off you want to make a paper stencil of your lens. Take your lens from your mask. Tape a piece of paper to the lens. Either cut the paper still taped to the lens, or pencil out the lens on the paper. Take off the tape and cut out the outline of your lens.

2)
Once you have the paper stencil cut out you now need to tape the paper to the tint. You can do this by taping down the tint to the hard cutting surface. Once you have the tint taped down, its much easier to tape the stencil to the tint.

3)
Now that you have the paper stencil on the tint ready to cut out, you can take 2 approaches on doing this. either you can cut it where it lays on the hard surface with the exact o knife, which isnt as easy. Or you can leave the paper stencil taped to the tint, and remove the tint from the hard surface and cut it out using the sissors.

Now that you have the tint cut out, size it up to the lens. See if there any trimming that needs to be done. If not and all looks good, your ready to apply the tint too your lens.

4)
Clean your lens. Make sure your lens is in NIB condition. If theres any deep scratches, the tint might not apply or the scratches might cause unwanted air bubbles.

The tint has the outside layer and the adhesive layer. Take off the protective layer protecting the adhesive side. I found that a spray bottle works best for this. Spray the adhesive side with your shampo/water mix as you seperate the tint. This will allow your to handle the tint before applying. Once you have it seperated and its nice and wet, do the same with your lens. This will make it easier to adjust the tint once you have it on your lens.

5)
Now that you have the tint where you want it. You'll have to remove all the water and air bubbles from it with your squeegee. Rubber squeegee works the best, but a nice hard firm squeegee that i bought from The Tint Store works just as well. Just be sure not to damage the tint. What i found that works best is working the bubbles from the middle out. But you'll also find that you'll need to hold on to the lens and tint while working out these bubbles and water. After you have all the air bubbles and water out, let dry and your done.

I dont have any step by step pics to go with this due to the fact i dont have any flex lens or event lens. but i do have some finish pics. Heres what iv done so far.

first tint i did

very bored

HKH(Hostile Kids Hater) tint i did for a friend

Rising sun on event lens. Did one on a clear lens and one on a already shaded lens(not recommended)

this is the clear lens with the silver mirrored tint, for those who wish to see what it looks like looking through these tint jobs.

my lastest tint.. grillz

Disclaimer:
For those who attempt this, understand that your doing this on your own risk and anything that happens too you or your lens will not be my fault.

well all it takes is a open mind and a steady hand. it took me a couple trys to get the tint to apply correctly. and you have to keep in mind that this tint was made for glass. and it took me a good 2hrs to come up with a finish lens. you'll find alot of the time goes into drawing out your design and cutting, and the other half getting the tint to apply correctly. by that i mean getting out the air bubbles.

if you attemp this, id like to see your finished lens.

its alot easier to just tint that lens. it takes some more time if you come up with design like the rising sun.... your cuts have to be perfect or when you apply the tint and your trying to get the air bubbles out, if the cuts arent solid, theres a chance you could tear or rip the tint.

Hey, I have an idea, this could help alot of people out and maybe make you some money. Those tinting jobs look amazing, so why not sell them. Or make templates and sell the templates? Like draw out the designs, scann them into photoshop, darken the lines and keep them to original size so then someone can buy/download/trace and use the designs you created. Start alittle company or something like that. It would help alot of people out, not to mention make you a few bucks. Just get some really good designs going.

P.S. The rising sun looks amazing.

I'd buy a template for like, 15 bucks. You might want to make sure there isn't a patent out by v-force or something. Just thinkin.
