Been quiet in here lately. Upgraded to 6.1.2 last night and re-jailbroke my phone so I'd be on the most recent version.

My sister-in-law is in a bit of a jam, for some reason her 4S is showing that she has 7-10GB of "other" data. She tried to restore to backup but that didn't change anything so I'm assuming she has corrupt data somewhere. So I'm going to advise her to restore as new, but the problem is that she needs to keep her contacts.

She tried backing them up to her iCloud account but she's unable to do so because the supposed data stored on her phone is larger than her iCloud allowance. So, she has an old PC for a laptop running Windows XP and I'm not sure which version of iTunes she's presently running. Is it possible for her to backup ONLY her contacts list onto iTunes, restore her iPhone as new and then load the backed up contacts?

tiny umbrella is updated so you can save your shsh blobs. event thought if you have anything past a iphone 4, you can back track firmware but hopfully once 6.1.3 comes out, people that are on 6.1.2 can restore back to 6.1.2 with their blobs (for whatever reason that needs them to restore the phone from start)

hey has anyone noticed that their iphone wont keep some apps in the background even though they have enough ram? i had a few apps open (mail, facebook, bitesms, twitter,) and i noticed i have around 300-400mb of ram left but for whatever reason if i open something else like a safari window or another non game app. a few other apps will close???? but i still have 300 mb's of ram free. WTF??

Glad you mentioned that. Hadn't saved 6.1.2 yet. Had saved 6.1, but I upgraded to 6.1.2, so I needed to get those.

well cydia automatically backs up your shsh blobs but i think you have to be connected to cydia for it to do that. idk im not sure but i know cydia backs them up. i always like to back them up locally so i have them just in case.

Yeah, I'd seen that it shows at the top of the screen that they're backed up, but I'm like you - wanted it local.

As long as her iTunes is up to date she should be fine

Is anyone else having issues with the maps app crashing when you open a text or basically any other app while your getting directions? Anyone know of a fix? I believe I'm on 6.1.2, jailbroken.

i have the same thing, except its only ~5 gigs

I can't find it now, but there's a thread on MacRumors or /r/jailbreak that tells you where you can find all the pics stored from all of your SMS messages. People in that thread were reporting gigs of space cleared after deleting the folder.

EDIT: wow that seemed to work, I'm not driving right now but it let me start a trip and open my texts for once. Really appreciate it, not like I should be looking at my GPS, texting and trying to drive all at once anyway but it was annoying having my phone crash everytime I opened a text

Best way to store downloaded videos on an iPad with no Internet connection .

I have mp4 or movs. I can use the Internet to send them to iPad 2. But I need to be able to look at them in a later point in time with no network connection . How should I do this through iTunes or another way ?

Just add the folder containing the vids to your iTunes video library, then sync to your iPad.

hey mac question. anyone know how to block youtube adds? im on my macbook air. i use safari. i have adblock but i still get the damn 30 sec cant skip adds and i have to watch them EACH time i want to watch a video. its driving me nuts.

i use safari because it uses like no cpu usage when watching videos online. if i use chrome or firefox my cpu usage goes up and so does my temps. (use istatmenus and i use 1 watt of cpu power on safari. when chrome/firefox uses like 6watts)

adblocker+ works for me, I'm using chrome, idk if that makes a difference.
