I agree with Dom....good news indeed...perhaps New Zealand will compete in one of the PALS events like the now famous World Cup Asia that was held last month in Langkawi Island in Malaysia.

vijil - would you know if Australia got a similar passed or are they still semi only?

That's great news to hear, Rob!
Ahh, I remember PALS. Last time I competed was back in the '07 PIMP, good times
BTW, Rich (RLN) how's everything going in the 671 paintball scene? I heard that Ricster's field might shut down due to the Liberation Casino thing. I think its a bad idea all around, SMH...
Anyways, I'm considering selling off all my PB gear ('07 Ego and all). LMK if you're interested.

GTG guys!

God Bless.

Paintball scene was doing well but with this whole closing down thing we definitely need the community to come out and support Ricster....otherwise no more field to play at.

I'd be interested in the Ego 07 if the price is right. PM me what your thinking.

airsoft is really hurting the paintball industry and I think the paintball industry is going the wrong way. I'm sorry but no business can support itself when it cost so much to be in it. The average cost to play at a paintball field is 50 bucks. I'm not sure what has happened really. You used to go to the store, buy paint 20-30 bucks go to the field and pay 10 bucks to play. Thats only a $10 difference. I'm sure the increase cost of shipping has effected the cost of shipping paint but I think paintball might be at a big road block. A lot of fields are doing the croupons deals and that is good to keep money coming in but that only gets players for the weekend, nothing long term. To be honest I think paintball will always be just a nich sport, nothing like soccer or other programs. Its just too much for paintball to really spread like other sports. But the other biggest issue is that paintball is not very organized. I mean yes we have rule books and what not but nothing is really streamlined. If paintball was set up like other sport programs like regions and districts then it would be better set up for future players. Not sure why I'm going on this rant, maybe its because I'm really thinking of opening up my own field. We shall see what the future holds for paintball. Not sure why .50 paint was ever made...

Please keep the families of the recent school shooting in your prayers. And if you are a parent, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, friend of a kid, give them a hug. God loves them, and has placed you in their lives to show them love.

Praying, and God bless.

- It's a shame these issues get so politicised. The biggest culprits here imo are ABC, CNN, Fox etc. for treating mass murderers as celebrities and making news into emotional fear based porn, thus encouraging extreme behaviour in those desperate for attention. That's why the rate is going up imo. Making the president cry on national TV is pretty awesome stuff to someone like that. http://www.policymic.com/articles/20...e-mass-murders

Got to chill out with the warthog from forward unto dawn yesterday. Wasn't allowed to take photos

Australia's government is much more left wing when it comes to gun laws than we are in NZ. Over there you need a license to own a speedball (or any other) marker, and you have to store it at the field. You are not allowed to take it home. Here it's much like the US besides the mode laws (which have now changed) and you need a permit to import a military looking marker, but once here it's no problem. Oh and there's only a few HPA tanks we can use but that's being worked on. The cops have good relations with the paintball community here which is (part of) how we got the modes law changed.

So, no, Australian laws are not about to relax. If anything they'll get worse. It's bad enough for NZ tournament teams flying over there for events. The NZ and Aus governments have little to do with each other besides being good mates.

As for PALS we regularly have teams attending PALS events. They just train semi and then play with PALS mode. They do pretty well generally

Really? I've never heard of a NZ team in PALS. I've only met Aussies....although I could be generalizing and assume their Aussies...but for the most part even when I look at the participating countries I've never seen NZ on the list let alone a NZ team making a podium finish or Sunday for that matter. I've competed a few times in PALS with my last tourney being World Cup Asia 2009. However, I regularly support and help out the teams from Guam that are competing. I miss competing but it's just too costly.

I agree. It's what our media thrives off of. Fear.

Yeah, gun laws haven't changed much in the US for a long time, but mass shootings are on the rise. So although the gun laws may not be helping it's clear that they aren't the cause of the problem. The sad state of western culture (caused mostly imo by the breakdown of the cohesive family unit, which is a stated goal of marxism) + the media fixation on fear are the bigger causes along with perhaps the poor standard of care for mental health patients. Marxist principles seem to underlie most progressive left wing ideals and many members of the left in western countries are also members of marxist organisations.

RLN we've definitely had teams there the last two or three years. There wasn't much for a while before that though so maybe you missed it.

Ack just found out the new law doesn't officially come into effect until it "propagates" or whatever. Kinda lames. No matter, I wasn't about to buy anything. Most people will start using modes now anyway.

Also who here watches adventure time?

vijil - There are 3 PALS tourneys a year. Usually held in one of these countries Thailand(normally 1st leg), 2nd leg is between Philippines and Taiwan(although lately it has been Taiwan or Malaysia) and the 3rd and final leg also know as World Cup Asia held in Malaysia (Langkawi island the past 2 years) Like I said I may not compete anymore but I still follow PALS especially the WCA and I assist the teams from Guam competing there. I did not see any team from New Zealand listed on any of the PALS events from 2009-2012. And I reverified:

PALS - http://www.xtionpaintball.com/forum/...ard,387.0.html

WCA - http://www.xtionpaintball.com/forum/...ard,264.0.html

However, there are PALS affiliated tournaments. So it's possible that perhaps there are PALS affiliated tourneys in other countries that had teams from New Zealand. Not sure what it means to be an affiliated tourney as I think it would have no bearing on PALS ranking other than Division Rank. At least that's my assumption.

odd. In any case teams did go and definitely did play... maybe they ended up being NZ/Aus combined teams or something.

Possibly and if that's the case then yea I can see them doing well as there is usually at least one Australian team placing in the top 4 for D1. The Aussie teams are definitely strong.

For those who are into Xball tourneys play you should consider playing at WCA...it's considered to be one of the best events of the year even compared to other events around the world due to the fact that it is played in a huge indoor arena. A top notch facility and the fact that the event is supported by the Malaysian government and Royal families says a lot about the event organizers.
