Just happened to be cruising around the dealer site and I saw a new.50 cal marker that Valken appears to be working on releasing soon.
To me it looks like a good sign that .50 cal is building a better customer base than many would think

Ive held the prototype, Nice build Quality. This will definitely rival the Spyder Opus. Lets see how it performs once it comes out. The .50 cal hopper is also a nice design

Looks like they've downsized the hopper and body to keep weight down, which is a selling point over the 50 cal FT12s etc.

Double trigger frankly seems pointless on this sort of marker, but whatever.

That double trigger and the huge trigger guard are definitely a turnoff.

Double triggers are always nice on the mech sear trippers though, gives you better leverage against the sear which can add up throughout the day.

Maybe if you're a serious player. But this looks like it's designed for the rental market.

Already owning a fleet of opus, enmey and dbs conversions... I'll reserve my final judgement until I hold it, tear it down, torture test it, etc.... But one thing I can see that is a big turn off is having a stainless hose right where someone is going to put their hand. Can't tell how many times I have picked up 98 or bt4 and lacerated my hand on a broken or frayed stainless wire from the hose.
Aside from that...I'm waiting to see the final product.

In theory all of that *should* be reduced due to .50.

Hrm, a bit of molded rubber/soft plastic would fix that... sort of a quasi-grip.

I would hope so. Anything really would be better than a hose in my opinion.

From the customers' perspective, the GOG is a much better looking gun, single trigger, and has a foregrip. The lack of foregrip here is a big negative. I recently took my 12-year-old nephew out for his first day of paintball (we played .50cal) and had no gripes at all using the GOG rather than shooting my personal 68 cal guns. On the flip side, just looking at this design I couldn't see myself enjoying shooting it. Many of the refs at the field I work at have tried the GOGs and played 50cal for a day... all have talked about how fun it was and didn't have a negative thing to say about the gun. Can't say I'd expect the same response if they were handed the Valken model. This isn't me praising the heavens for the GOG - the guns in our fleet haven't been without their problems - but customer response to them has been very good. Sorry Valken, but my initial reaction to this offering is UGLY.

A rental does not know one gun from an other. Look at how they treat the rental guns during a game. As long as the gun survives the game, it will be ready for the next renter.

A first time play prefer "low impact .50" but are paying more for paint and less chance of breaks at long distances over .68

They should have a agitated hopper for these rental guns. Those gravity fed hoppers requires shaking all the time and frustrating to use for any renter.

Part of my gun briefing has always been "These are fed by gravity, and they'll jam up in the hopper, so you'll need to shake them a little as you're shooting. Shoot four or five shots, give it a shake.", together with showing them a shake of a gun.

I'd much rather have grav hoppers and tell renters to shake them rather than dealing with either batteries in agitating hoppers or a mechanical agitation system that makes a rental gun more complicated. Simple is better.

Someone needs to buy the primo patents off Dye... that thing was/is still by far the best grav hopper, and the concept would be perfect for rental play.

Heck if Dye were smart (and had money) they'd revive proto as a .50 cal rental/lowend brand. I've said that before though...
