2k4 Season
Hey guys,
I'm looking at putting togather a team for the 2k4 heartland 7 man series.
Just have a few questions... How are the venues? Like are they set up well? Is it BYOP or FPO for the evil i see thats like 65 a case? Anyone know what the costs will be for entry?
Thx guys!

We spend a lot of time looking for venues. We have a list of requirements that a location must meet to be considered. Those requirements include:
A level, grass area able to hold up to four fields.
Playing area must be smooth, not rocky or lumpy.
Electricity and water must be in the adjacent area.
Ample staging and parking adjacent to the fields.
Hotels within a 10 minute drive.
Food within a 10 minute drive.
Interstate within a 20 minute drive.
We also look for venues with real bathrooms.
Typically, we look at fairground facilities and sporting complexes. We've been playing tournaments for 10 years, so we try to find locations that we'd want to play at. Our fields are fully netted with 14' net, making the fields spectator friendly. Team staging is set up as close to the fields as possible, with the air station adjacent to the staging area. We have a compressor that can provide 4500 lb fills and push-button fill stations.
The event is FPO with PMI paint at $65 a case. Entry is $400 and will probably stay at that price next year.

Myteam played the mMarch event inKY. It was exellent. It ran smoothly, there were no big delays between your game butyou also were not rushed with 1-2 game turn arounds. Quality reffing and nice, clean, easily accesable venue. Oh, and a prize package that puts a lot of 'major' events to shame.

Yeah, I was able to check out the Rock Island fairgrounds (it wasn't what we wanted) but I was unable to stop and see the fairground on the Iowa side of the river because of road "destuction". If anyone lives near there and can get some contact info from the fairgrounds people, well, that would be FANTASIC!

"Mark" of the quad cities? What's that?
I found the name of the fairgrounds I couldn't get to- the Missisippi Valley Fairgrounds. Anybody know anything about that one?

the mark of the quad cities is a indoor place in downtown moline where they have basktball, hocky, arena football, rodeos, motorcycle races, concerts, all that good stuff. the mississipi fairgrounds are pretty good they have quite a bit of space but nothing too special. the marks official website is http://www.themark.org/

Thanks for the 411. I'll start checking on this stuff after I get back from Cincinnati. (Yes, I'm checking the Hamilton Co. Fairgrounds for "furture consideration")

So is there a possibility of more than 5 events?
That would rock!

For now, the Heartland series will be only five events per season. This may change eventually, but not in the near future.
We are, however, always looking for new and better venues.
For instance, while looking in the Cincinnati area I happened to find myself at a local casino boat. (for anyone who knows me, this is no surprise) Directly across the highway from the Argosy entrance is the Dearborn Co. Fairgrounds. I'd thought I'd take a look (looks good) With the Argosy having it own hotel and at least two other major hotels within five minutes, that requirement was easily meet. On a side note, I found at least one other "plus" in this locations plus/minus column. A place called "Concepts" gentlemans club only three blocks from the fairgrounds. NOT BAD!
Back on subject- As we find new and better venues, we'll simply replace one or more of our less favorable locations. That way the series will move around slightly to new cities while we continue to improve the quality of the series as a whole.

YES! If you draw a circle of appox. five hour drive time from Indianapolis you'll have a good idea of the domain for the series.
Actually, the circle will probably be smaller than that.

Another place I thought of in the Quad Cities is the Quad City Downs. Its a horse track with green growing grass in the middle of the track. The funny thing is they dont use it for racing anymore they just gamble inside. http://www.tracksideotb.com/tracksid...ad_city_downs/ here is some info on it I dont really know if they would even let you play on it but its worth a shot it would be an awsome venue like chicago at maywood park.
