Thanks guys! I was only wishing I had my ZoomCam on for that one... It kicked off before that happened, not sure if my battery died, or I hit the record button accidently or what...
Here is some footage from this season that I hadn't put in a video yet. Some good stuff in here.
This was my first time making a video with my contour, so I wasn't really aware of all the mistakes I was doing (mainly I wasn't always conscious of the camera position vs. my marker so some shots are obscured), but I think it turned out alright for a first try. Hopefully I'll get better as I go on, and get better video from scenarios and big games instead of just rec play.
Practice with your camera, BEFORE you play, run around, and "play" in your house, or outside, and make sure that when you fire, and duck, ect. the camera is picking up what you want. Getting your mount correct is critical. And there is nothing worse than having an awesome "kill" and then getting home and realizing your hopper blocked the shot...
I run my helmet cam between my eyes, on my visor (duck tape and zip ties are your friend as it keeps it from bouncing around). That way when you lean out, you will be using both eyes to judge distance, and your camera will pick up what YOU see. If you put your camera on the left or right side, you will pick up lots of hopper, or bunker...
EDIT your footage. No one wants to see a 8 minute video where you can't tell what is going on. The only way you should have a long video is if the viewer at home can SEE the other players and feel like they are part of the game. For example, here is a full game video, but in it, you can tell what is going on so it is worth putting the entire game online.
Most people don't want to watch an entire game though, so unless it is really easy to watch, and tell what is going on, you want to keep your videos SHORT. Leave the viewer wanting more.
2 minutes is the optimum length for youtube videos, as most viral videos are 2 minutes or less. So throw down your action from the outset, as you only have about 20 seconds to grab the viewers attention. If your intro is longer that 10 seconds, it is WAY too long.
Songs are important, but if you use someone elses music, you can't make money from the video... ever...
So don't use "real" music, as youtube and other sites frown on you using other peoples copyrighted materials... I use canned music for all my stuff, so I own it...
I use sony vegas, but I have been getting the black screen error and it is a ROYAL pain... So I don't recommend that software anymore, as Sony doesn't care to help me with their buggy software. (I use vegas 10 platinum) You will need a good edit software to handle HD files as they are HUGE.
Be sure to output in the highest possible quality, with the correct aspect ratio so your video isn't squeezed! Test it out, and DELETE it if it is wrong, and reupload!
If you can't see the kills, wait until your target is way closer. If the lighting is right, you can see kills really far away even with a low end camera. Here is one of my first video's from way back in 09. I did this with a ATC3K camera and widows movie maker... no music, and horrible audio, way too long, but for some reason it still gets views...
Today, I work on color correcting my video before posting it, and editing it so that the viewer at home feels like it is THEM playing. And throw on some music that fits the style of play. Here is one I just made that Tippmann featured on their facebook wall recently. Notice how I cut to the action right off, and keep it going the whole video. THAT is what you want.
I was using a Sony HDR-SR1 for the first generation. But, my new one is a Sony HDR 210 which is a flash memory camera with better image stabilization, and more zoom. I'm editing a video now that is pretty amazing. I got some great kills this past weekend. Headshots, and more... And with the ZoomCam you can actually SEE the hits!

Here's a couple of mine I took with a camera rig similar to FreeEnterprise, just a DSLR bolted to my barrel. The first game I accidentally clicked on YouTube's "Anti-Shake" so it's kinda odd...
