hey pbn, i had my geo about 2 weeks now and i have put about 4 cases through it. I DO NOT have the GST but i so have a gr2 i was wondering what can I do to get it quieter? it has kinda a "pingy/ringy" noise on every shot. also I was wondering how to get the most shots off a 68/45.

A ringing sound with each shot could be coming from your tank's regulator, rather than from the marker.

Make sure that your bumper o-rings are in place.

Back out the VVC adjuster all the way, increase dwell by 2.5ms, set the lowest operating pressure that allows you to get full velocity, then dwell tune.

Myth regs tend to make your gun have a pingy sound. It is probably your tank regulator rather than your gun.

Actually, you can get in touch with GA customer service... They did offer customer a replacement spring if their myth reg is pinging...

However, be aware that the Geo had issues with Myth reg because of the Mid pressure setup... You will need to get the high pressure spring for the Myth reg to ensure your Geo can shoot well... Some people don't like the Myth reg, but I used one with the HP spring for a season and worked well for me

I have this exact setup, but normally run with my DXS 68/45, if no one gets you some good numbers by this weekend, i'll get you a run down of shot count. Best close guess right now would be you'll get about 4 pods (160 rd. Lock-lids) and a hopper? kind of guessing, trying to remember, i only played one game with the Ninja 50/45 this last weekend and I only had it filled to 4k. I'm from the midwest and the weather this last weekend was in the 50's and 60's, and i was running with a .685 back, shooting RPS premium. If any of that matters to you.

also experiment with different barrel types and lengths to change the sound signature. makes a big difference. but the more porting and length you use to quiet your gun down will reciprocally reduce your efficiency so you have to decide which is more important to you.

Yep, most 'ping' sounds came from regs, and mostly from myth regs. The fact that you never noticed this before means that the Geo is quieter than your last gun most likely and now you can hear that ping where your gun was too loud to hear it before.

Suggestions were given above as to how to fix that sound in the tank reg.

Past that, others have already given the 2-3 ways to quiet a Geo further.

If this helps on my geo i just got the other day. it has been shot alot so its broken into. i shot like one pod and its used 500psi but my gun was chronoed to 300. hope that helps and i have a ninja 68/4500

ok so heres a question. just picked up a used geo, this guy kept it in imaculate condition, completely amazing condition for putting 20 cases through it...here are specs

gr2
gst
gun lubed w oil not grease
dwell 10ms (he said w the oil much less stick and it cycles completely fine)

so i had the barrel on and i was surprised at how friggen loud it was...of course i am comparing this to my invert mini but damn this thing sounds like a cannon w no paint in it...is this normal for a geo? sorry if im jacking your thread but would like to know, thank you =]

Most markers will sous loud when dry firing.
Just be aware if you are following the oil method instead of grease... Be ready for more regular service and reoiling.
