I'd hardly call HB a prime event these days. It's been pretty depressing the past few years and getting progressively sadder.

"These days" being the key phrase. It was the first event of the year in a groundbreaking location. I don't know what happened with them the rest of the year.
HB this year was the saddest by far. It was just depressing. The main reason being that Dye and Kee "boycotted" them this year or something to that effect.

Even tho HB is a great location, it cost the NPPL a lot of money to hold the event there. Plus the time and labor for the extensive clean up. By the time its said and done the circuit makes little money on the event. The other stops of the year dont bring in hardly anything...except vegas does ok..cuz its vegas. This is just one more last ditch effort to get in some paying teams before the circuit dies. Because lets be honest, how many players event want to play the circuit anymore..PSP is just more fun

Frankly it's surprising how many people seem to flat out hate the NPPL. Sure it's had problems and sure PSP runs a better event, but the level of disdain so many have for the NPPL is over the top. Then again, it is popular on PBNation to hate the NPPL and worship PSP.

On another note, I've heard a lot of people over the years talk about growing paintball, making it more mainstream, making it a legit sport. etc. etc. As if the dream is to have it one day compete with football or basketball. Sorry to say this, but if it ever even manages to compete with hockey, I would be surprised.

Idk why people hate the NPPL, well yeah they screwed Vendetta out of their prize money...which is a pretty solid reason to hate them. However, its still a paintball league and its hosting events and getting people to play. The team turnout is small, but teams are still playing and hopefully those teams will draw other teams to compete as well. Under the guidance of PBpromotions, I'm sure the NPPL will still be around.

I doubt they would do this. There are already enough quality D1 teams that have grinded through D3-D2-D1 to earn their potential spot in the Challengers division. They would have to play D1 for a full year and place 1st or 2nd I believe to move up to Challengers.

Isn't NPPL Vegas being held at Xtreme paintball? At least the facility is nice!
