inevitably another mediocre tarintino flick that gets massively overrated like most of his movies.

Nope. His unique style and repertoire for amazing dialogue is popular for a reason; it attracts people. These aren't the lifeless thumbsuckers that praise explosions and hot women, but instead, these people are interested in good plots, stylized art and direction, as well as great acting. Tarantino has never let people down in those regards.

You may not like him, but his numbers speak otherwise.

disagree almost completely. In my eyes, he's still living off of Pulp Fiction. the rest of his flicks i watch and like them until about 1/2-2/3rds of the way in and then by the end its like "thats it?". Not saying he or his movies are bad, but it just seems like they always are good to awesome for the first half then just kinda trail off.

Death Proof doesn't trail off at all.

I would hesitate to call most of Tarantino's movies "good," but they're certainly entertaining.
Sure, his best images are always recycled from forgotten B-movies from the '60s and '70s, but the point is that Hollywood has forgotten this aesthetic, and Tarantino is able to distill it.

I have the complete opposite opinion.
Planet Terror had a bunch of interesting ingredients but never really did anything interesting with them.
Death Proof is an hour of filler followed by the best car chase sequence ever filmed. And that's the point.
Robert Rodriguez made a movie that was an homage to exploitation films.
Tarantino actually made an exploitation film.

Yes, but it was a pretty mediocre one, IMO. (Which, in a way, is perfect because most of them are pretty bad.)

I agree with this. And I hate agreeing with MG. This will inevitably be the same old **** but this time with "white people are all dumb sadistic rednecks" and "black people are super cool and we all wish we could be them" tacked on as well.

The star wars guy was named in homage to the original.
You probably already knew that.

Finally got to see this yesterday. I thought it was awesome. Christoph Waltz was absolutely great.

Also, didn't know that when Jamie Foxx spelled out Django, and said the D is silent, that the man who said "I know" was Nero. That was a nice little nod to the first movie.

Also never even put the Jango Fett thing together with this movie. Not sure how I never made that connection lol.

Not as bad as I expected, actually watched this for a class thinking that it can't be good if it's for an African American Literature FKL. The movie had a lot of potential and a lot of great actors, but as soon as the german dies, the movie goes downhill quite rapidly with some good parts scattered in the end.
