I'm typically a big proponent for the death penalty, but I think the sentence better suits the crime. This moron wanted to die (martyrdom) and thrived off the attention he receieved during his trial. Now that it's complete, he'll literally be sitting and rotting the rest of his years in a cement cell, with no attention, and will be made to suffer far worse than if he were to be executed. I think the sentence fits the crime in his case.

Giving him the death penatly is a joke. He would love to die. But the fact is if he lives all his friends will forget about him in the next 6 months. The life sentence is much better so he can have time to realize what he did and feel the pain of it.

whether life is a cheaper then sentance then death is going to depend on views from person to person.

What does the government do if he is killed by a guard or somehow commits suicide, or anything else resulting in his death? Do they announce it, or do they keep it secret? Honestly, for all we know he is already dead.

He made claims that he will be a free man again while Bush is still in office. Does Al Quida care about him? Will there be a jailbreak attempt? If he escapes so do other sick freaks. He's a liability being alive, but I agree it was the right thing to do.

Life in a supermax prison will not phase him. He is obviously an extremely spiritual person. He will probobly pray every waking moment that he is in that cell, he "knows" he has Allah on his side. Unless, that is, he thinks he failed Allah by not succeding in the hijacking plan.

He wanted to die. If he was sentenced to death his purpose as a matyr would have been fullfilled.

however, he will most likely be allowed food, shower, etc.

personally, solitary confinement, no toiletries, and I'd feed him pork products. If he didn't like it, he wouldn't have to eat it.

EDIT: he will never "feel the pain" or regret what he did. He laughed as he saw the 911 tapes.

yah, in my honest opinion, the supermax is quite a bit worse than death penalty. I mean, if it were myself, I'd rather die. Were not talkin no pound me in the *** prison, were talkin about not seeing light of day exept for 1 hour a day when they take you on a walk with guns and chains strapped to you, the only people you will ever again see is a prison gaurd, maybe even 2 if your lucky. Now just imagine living like that for 30+ years: not fun.

They did a thing about how bad the supermax prisons are on Fox, it made me wince just thinking about living a life in there.
