best wax...

...what's the best wax for a darker colored car that hasn't had a coat of wax on it since....forever. has been constantly cleaned tho. (once a week)

looking for a durible finish that'll leave a good shine and mask any swirl marks, scratches as best as possible.
it's a dark red car

You would probably be better off finding a sealant instead of a wax. Should last you about 6 months if washed properly(don't use hard soaps). There are a number of good sealants out there, I always go for Meguiar's 21 when I detail.

Buff it with a high grade compound, take off that top oxidized layer of paint, wax it, then seal it. Your car will look like glass so much that Instead of it being reflective it will be reflective so much you can tell depth in it and your paint will look darker. I use to work at a detailing shop so I could learn how to spruce up my truck before shows

That will also take away your scratching and swirls in your paint. But if you don't know how to buff I'd avoid it.

Nu Finish Wax is really good, use on my dark red Fusion, and on my silver Honda.

There is no best wax. Some will have a more wet look, others may make metallic flake pop more. Some last months, others last weeks. It's more about personal preference. What you should really do is correct the paint, not mask it with wax. It will look much better, and when the wax wears off, you won't have all the swirls and imperfections back.

For what it's worth, I use Pinnacle Souveran. It's $95 a jar, though, I got mine years ago when it was buy one get one free. It also included an applicator pad and a Cobra MF towel with each jar. I've just recently about finished up the first one. My car's paint isn't in great condition (thanks GM for the orange peel) but here's a C6Z with the wax.

Nxt tech wax/thread, I'd seal and polish it though

For the money, that is, I'd say nxt. I don't think there is a "best"
