any disadvantages jumping to high end marker?
Hi i am fairly new to paintball (been in it for 5 month)
is there any disadvantage or things i should knw if i am buying an ego10 straight?
i been training with 98c and a5 for these few month n decided to hop on speedball(love the snake) nw it probably time for me to get a proper marker for myself but i dun wanna change my marker frequently n decided to skip entry n mid lvl marker to an ego10 so i can stick with it longer
thoughts?

Nope, an ego 10 is a hell of an upgrade from an a5 though lol. Make sure you get a nice full setup though.

Well, in addition to the cost of the gun you'll need the other required pieces of gear, namely HPA tank and hopper. I've known a few player who have blown their entire budget on just a gun, then couldn't afford a tank and hopper for it. Ended up with an overpriced paperweight.
Your paint consumption will go up, possibly WAY up (until you learn trigger control). I'd keep that 98 handy for when you're halfway through the day and you've already burned through most of your paint.

Holy ****. You're actually wise about buying! Look at you buying your gear before your gun. Respect.
Anywho, I'd suggest looking into the market before buying. There are much better bangs for your buck and perhaps guns you'll like more than an Ego 10.
For example, a Cyborg RX. With a trigger other than stock, of course.
Or an Alien Independence. Bob long 2011 G6r. Bob Long Victory.
Bob long Marq/Victory (either series. both great and mostly interchangeable parts)
MacDev Clone, etc.

the amount of paint you shoot depends on how many times you pull the trigger. I know people who shoot a hopper and I know people who shoot 7 pods. it all depends on you. the only difference now is if you are shooting as much paint as you can with the a5 you will probably continue to do that with the ego and that will be much more paint. if you are shooting less than a hopper a game now then you will probably only go up on paint consumption slightly.

How old are you? Because that reasoning doesn't even make sense.
Anyway, get what you want because you want it.
You earned it when you were able to get the money to pay for it.

uh 25 , lol with a steady job. i felt i hav yet to prove myself in my team that y i felt unworthy to get such a great marker(it's my mentality, meh)i hav the money to get ego11 but like most said difference isn't great between 10 to 11 n there r more ppl selling ego10 in my country
for a5 i am using a hopper(z2) plus a pod as a front, back bout a z2 hopper n 4 pods

A gun is a gun, after you get out of the entry level market they all pretty much do the same thing these days. Don't get too hung up on "Gun A" being much better than "Gun B" because generally the performance differences will be almost nil. The real decider has been, and will continue to be, personal preference.
Paint usage, that's mostly up to you. It's also somewhat dependent on whether or not you are playing semi-automatic or using ramping. I know that my team's front/snake guys take a hopper and 3 pods out for one game of 5-man. They almost never shoot it all, but it's better to be safe. I play more of a middle/insert role, and I carry a hopper an 5 pods for most of my games. Again, it's rare that I shoot all of that in one game, but not unheard of. A good rule for paint usage, especially if you are playing tournaments, is however many you think you need plus at least 1 for fronts, and plus 2 for backs.
Ultimately, the paint thing will figure itself out, you will play and be able to tell how much you're shooting per game or per day.

Just gonna go ahead and hop in here rq...
Just as stated above, it sounds like you're doing everything right...so good on you for that.
Two things, though; now I don't know if you've handled the ego before, if your team leader has one, I might ask him if he'd mind my squeezing a few rounds off with it. I've played around with an Ego before and it just didn't feel right in my hands. If this is going to be your main weapon, just make sure you're going to be happy with it...everyone is different and what works for everyone else isn't necessarily going to work for you.
Finally, before taking that gun out to a field, you might want to bring it in to your local shop. Knowing everything is functioning ahead of time and learning how to properly break down your own your own equipment is important.
hope it all works out for ya

^This. the only downside is if you decide not to take care of the gun, then you will break an expensive gun vs. a moderately priced gun. GL buddy.

Whoever had that happen to them is lucky to have owned an ego. who knows what would have happened to their body had the frame not bent like that!

Imagine if the frame didn't bend, causing the tank to hit his chest so hard that he goes into cardiac arrest. Planet Eclipse, lookin' out for your physical health

Legit "safety" feature or not, I'll take a bent out gun over an injured teammate any day of the week.
