Trouble getting high Bps with break-beam eyes....

Hey guys -- So this isn't a big "problem" per se, but I just wanted to get your take on this. I've been running break beam eyes for awhile now but last summer one of the bulbs on my bb kit broke, so I had to go back to using a reflective eye until recently. At that time, I was also using a Tadao Yakuza board which seemed to be plagued with uncountable problems (so I never really knew how the gun was doing with BB eyes). For the last two days of playing this past Fall, I reinstalled my E2 board and it worked flawlessly with the reflective eyes. I also run an MQ2 valve and was able to keep the Lpr very low and still get into the 14bps range on semi (On a good day I can hit 15 or 16, and with my Rotor I think it would have gone that high, the gun was RIPPING).

Anyway, I got my BB kit replaced and reinstalled it yesterday using the E2. With the SAME SETTINGS I used to get 14bps in the Fall (other than switching it to BB), I was only able to get 11bps. So then I checked the "Ball" and "Empty" settings and set them to "2" -- which seemed to be a fairly low value. Tried it again and it moderately improved but still only got 12-13bps. At this point I put it on PSP mode to make sure it wasn't just my fingers. Still only 12-13. So then I started to lower the Coff, minimized the Cdel (4.1 is minimum). I finally got it to hit 14bps consistently on PSP mode, with Coff at 22 and the Lpr turned up higher than I'd like it.

I know I could get it all the way to 15bps with some more tweaking but at that point it might require a pretty high Lpr pressure to avoid shootdown. That's beside the point. The point is, it was doing those kinds of speeds with conservative settings using a reflective eye, and now it's not with the break beam system. Is it possible that I misplaced the location of the BB eyes when I drilled?

It's really not a big deal, as I don't "need" more than 12bps. But I almost always play with uncapped semi and if I hit 15bps on the trigger, I'd like my gun to be able to keep up without being setup like a jackhammer.

Check for pinched wires. Even a little pressure can delay the electrical signal from the eyes to the board and back. Also use a quality nine volt.

Clean and clear any gunk or lube that my be built up in the eye pockets inside the breech.

I'd also throw your settings up on custom cockers or even here. Someone will be able to spot the funks, if there are any.

I would say that the eyes are probably slightly different from what you were using. Have you played around with the sensitivity at all? Generally high settings will yield in slow shot count because the BB eyes are reacting to the bolt. I also use an Tadao board and MQ2 with BB eyes, I had drastically lower my eye sensitivity in order for the marker to cycle correctly.

i cant really help you with your eye problem, but your c-off seems a bit low to me. i know on my karni i could never get it below 28ms without having to turn up the lpr...i dont know if the mq2 will let you go lower or not but i thought it might be worth mentioning. might help keep it smooth at least.

I didn't think eye sensitivity would have anything to do with BB eyes....LOL, maybe that's what I need to adjust. I suppose a more sensitive BB might activate sooner...

Yep, the lower I go with Coff, the more Lpr pressure is needed to prevent shootdown. This is more of a problem with MQs because they fire so quickly on the next shot. I prefer having my Coff at around 28ms and running a low cocking pressure to take advantage of the MQ's smoothness, but if I can only get 11-12 bps that way...

I might mess around with the sensitivity settings as mentioned above and see if I can coax a little more speed out of the timing rather than physically speed up the cycle by adding more Lpr pressure.

If you miss drilled your eyes you would chop more not have a lower bps. Your problem isn't in that area
