Clone questions

So, I pulled the trigger on my first Macdev product since I bought a Cyborg oh so long ago when they were initially released. Had that wierd metallic yello/black fade.

My new aquisition is a Clone V2 and I have a couple of questions which will probably only increase as I dive further into the marker.

The first thing that comes to mind is triggerslop or side to side play, is there supposed to be alot of it? The pull itself feels nice, but the trigger feels wobbly at best.

If it's a know issue, will a VP trigger solve that?

Pics and videos to follow.

Might post some additional stuff here as I have a distant relative sitting next to the Clone, a Crome2.

Clone V2 768g
Crome 2 794g

Both weights with batteries, but no barrel. Perceived weight when set up (68cu and cf boomstick) is that the Crome balances better and feels lighter. Though I'm not done with tweaking the Clone so that may change.

Dryfiring the Clone is more quiet, I've yet to shoot them head to head with paint but will do so eventually.

The Clone trigger does have a bit of side play. The VP trigger has much less and a lot of people swear by them. I'm so used to the Clone triggers at this point and have come to really like them, but of course triggers are all a preference thing.

VP triggers remove all slop. I've had them in nearly every marker I've owned since I've learned about them (Ion, DM, Cyborg (06-RX), Clone, G6r) and I love them.

You also can get two thin washers, stick them to the sides with a little grease, and reinstall the trigger to eliminate side play

Yes the VP are very nice triggers. They eliminate the side to side play.
I've had the VP on the RX, droid,, and clones and I liked them much better.

Recently, I've been using the critical triggers and I like those even more. I've swapped from. vP to critical on my GT, from CP to critical on the ion, and critical on 2 other markers.

+1 more on the critical trigger. I have a custom made trigger on my droid that is extremely similar to the critical. I also have had critical triggers and VP, they're all good. IMO critical is best, BC I had to pay alot for my custom trigger.

I didn't know there were Criticals for these so I'll definitely look into that, but if they're $50 a pop like the Criticals for other markers I might aswell just spend $15 more for a Acid Customs trigger.

First things first though, need a new set of eyes

Violent Products is a great upgrade to the stock trigger.
Macdev stock trigers are garbage.
I have no idea how a near perfect paintball gun dripping with quality and engineering has such a ghetto trigger on it.
It makes no sense, either. A quality trigger is so damn easy to perfect. It aint rocket science.

If you guys have the chance to check out a Renegade ZR1 take notice of the trigger. It is perfection. And the design is simple. Two set screws with points/cones on the end. The cones fit into the inner race of the bearing on each side. Kind of like this.

///>=<\\\ The = is the inner race of the bearing, the ///> are the pointed set screws

The design keeps the trigger centered(never rubs on the sides of the trigger opening) and there is absolutely zero side to side play. Incredibly simple and effective.

And, by the way, the Critical triggers are $55 for the Clone!
Great triggers, but DAMN!!

James has posted multiple times that he would not do warranty repairs on any gun with an acid trigger... not that you have a warranty anyway, but out of respect for MacDev I stay away from acid. I prefer the violent triggers anyway.

The point set screws on a rotating bearing race was out way before the ZR1.
But he is correct.

Don't you worry Macdev Fans... NEW THINGS ON THE HORIZON IN THE TRIGGERS.

So what's the deal with Acid triggers being shunned upon?
Just saying that they are doesn't really help.

Apparently it stems from some shady past dealings between the owner of acid and James (from MacDev). I don't really know all the details, but James is pretty adamant about it and I'd rather support MacDev than a trigger company... violent series triggers are amazing and what I put on every gun anyway.

Yayy my gun lol, thanks Joe.
The VP trigger is nothing short of amazing, hands down the best trigger I've used.
