Favorite religions you don't personally follow.

So, any religions out there that you respect, find interesting, or just seems cool that you don't happen to believe in?

The Bahá'í Faith is quite interesting. Their Unity of Religion principle (the belief that all religions are correct, each being God revealing a part of the full truth to a set population that's tailored to that particular group) seems to jive well with my personal ideas on God.

I also like aspects of traditional Kabbalah. Not the Madonna red strings fashionable version, the old school metaphysical Kabbalah. Though I don't particularly care for the numerology. The Tree of Life is quite interesting.

Hinduism. The Mhabarata is some crazy ****. And the bhagavad vita is very interesting in it's balance of action and non-action, an excellent response to buddhism.

Atheism

If we are talking about "religions" in all reality the belief that there is no God interests me the most. If I were to cast of my religious beliefs it would seem freeing as I could really follow any moral code I wanted to. Granted that moral code would reflect only my philosophy on life and much wouldn't change. But to not have the guilt or "have to" would be nice.

But then again, without the guilt of failing doesn't come the hope of grace. Just the continuance of my own philosophy. So ya, if I wasn't a follower of Christ, pure belief in nothing intrigues me.

Also, I've always found Transcendentalism and eastern religions fascinating. Specifically Buddhism and Taoism.

*waits for "atheism doesn't mean no morality" whiners to jump on your post* even though that's not what you were saying.

edit: see shaka, Buddhism and Taoism aren't ones I can list, because I *do* follow them

No, purely fictitious. Part of the lore of an old fantasy RPG called Runequest.

It's one religion that I have never truly looked into although I wish I would. It just seems so massive and complex that I never took the time to do so. Maybe I will one day though, I think the culture that surrounds it is amazing as well.

I would imagine. When someone is "Zen" buddhist the only difference between them and your typical Mahayana Buddhist is the fact that they practice Zazen and other forms of hardly disciplined meditation. The teachings are all the same, just a little more "hardcore" and the styles of meditation are different and focus more on training the mind and overcoming the mind.

Now I have no idea what a deist is though haha.
