DM8 vs PM8, which would you choose?
Ive decided i want a spoolie for my backup and came up with these 2 gats. Ive heard the PM8 is more like a DM9 but can anyone give me specifics?
Or just any pros vs cons for the 2. Which would you prefer and why
Thanks! Josh

For me, PM8 without a doubt. Better looking IMO, and you are correct, the PM8 bolt is what was used to make the DM9. The DM9 had different internal milling to allow for lower pressures, wired eyes, etc., but from a functionality and performance perspective, PM8=DM9.
Mostly I choose PM8 though because I think it's much hotter looking than the DM8.

PM8. It has the new bolt (I don't get why it was upgraded before the DM8... btw), the LPR is in a good spot that keeps the marker's height down low. Some people think it's hard to adjust, but if you cut an allen key down to the right length, it's pretty easy. Just pick up a locking feedneck for it.

I'd use a DM6 over either of them. But they all shoot about the same, just feel different.

So quick question, i love how smooth my buddys dm7 is. Like there is absoultly ZERO kick, can i expect the same of the pm8? Since its basically a DM9

I have a dm8 and can say that it is for sure a very solid marker that is very reliable and tunable. It feels right in the hands and looks better than the alien looking pm8. Most dm8's will come with a bwing bolt and a dm9 eye pipe, and a cp flow plug. All of those are standard upgrades and make the marker very smooth and reliable.

Yes. The bolt is almost the same... it was redesigned very slightly. I can't tell a difference, kick wise, between the two. Do keep in mind, however, that kick is a function of a well tuned LPR. If your LPR is turned up too high, it'll increase the kick.

The PM8 sure as hell does look weird, with that milling cut in the front of the marker, but, personally, I think it's a huge benefit as far as ergonomics goes. I love the way that my hand fits around the front. Your forefinger goes in the crack, and really locks it down.

The P in PM stands for Proto as in"Prototype" Dye used Proto to test on a larger scale. I believe the only big difference between the pm8 and dm9 is ribbons vs wired eyes, but I could be mistaken.
The PM series was rumored to be discontinued because it was becoming the same thing as a dm and profit margin was much lowered.
Technically, the pm8 is more advanced than a dm8.

A key thing to note is the volume of the air chamber in your gun. The DM7 hold a greater volume of air when it shoots compared to the PM8, same with the DM8. This is because they are longer guns. Them DM9 does use the same bolt as the PM8, but more of the inside of the body has been hollowed out so the volume is the same as the earlier DM guns. As a result of the higher volume, the DM series is usually capable of operating at lower pressures out of the box, hence less kick.
That been said, if your PM8 is well tuned, it should be very close. The difference should be minimal. But understand that due to the way it was engineered, you might not be able to get it to be exactly like a DM.

Honestly I thought the LPR was a huge pain in the derriere to adjust on the PM8...
I'd go with a DM9 over the 8. Better size and design.

I have a dremel, i plan on cutting an allen key to fit easily into the lpr so im not worried about it at all.
But if i do like it over my axe im considering doing a 2-4-1 for a higher end spoolie. Thinking a dm10-dm11 or clone VX, possibly a geo 2.1. Ima gun whore
Also thinking a G6R with LP popit could get smooth enough
Any other $600-700 spoolies worth shooting? Or popits that get uber smooth?

Both are great and one really doesn't out perform the other. If you like a longer feel to the marker the DM8 would be the choice. If you like a more compact feel the pm8 is amazing. To be honest, I use a PM6 with the DM9 Bwing bolt in it over any matrix I have. They are all amazing markers and that PM8 looks awesome!

Thanks man! Yea i know some people arnt picky about cosmetic shape but i am lol I like my stuff mint and i keep my stuff mint. I held a locals PM8 and loved how it sat in my hands, so i guess ill only go DM again if it feels better. But i deff liked the PM8 over the DM7 for comfort in hand. She will be here tomorrow or friday, so i guess will see.

I have both DM* and PM* and really they shoot about the same. Good guns though as long as youre not having to fix leaks.

Mikko pm8s have the internal milling of dm9s. So if you like the pm8 ergonomics it could be worth a shot locating one to get dm9 pressures.
