I don't think tuff is saying vote straight democrat here, just not to vote for this specific guy.
He said vote Democratic. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater here. If you are a believer in the direction any party represents, you have to learn to live with what you have, while knowing that it is possible to push that party in a direction. Nothing will change overnight. I don't know that there are other Republican candidates running for this seat, but, it makes more sense for Republicans to vote Republican AND denounce absurdity when it arises than to jump ship. I'm not taking a position here on what this guy said. Whether it be misquoted or misunderstood, the underlying logic behind Tuff's suggestion is bad, in my opinion.
He doesn't say God intended the rape, just that it isn't a good reason to murder a baby. Nowhere does he say he is going to go after anyone's right to murder a baby. .
"that it is something that God intended to happen"

Morons, I swear.
Alright ya bumbling **** biscuit with gaping gravy leaking hole in your caboose, let's have a ****ing throw down over this then. First off, you have a guy claiming this GOP ********** didn't say what he said, and there is a video of him saying it. He ****ing said the text in quote. He said it, he meant it, he believes it, and anything to the contrary after that is to save his own worthless gutter sucking, senate seat salivating, self from being knocked out of the race faster than Little Mac after eating 3 Mike Tyson uppercuts. There is no "meaning to misinterpret." If, based on the comment of the person in question is to be believed, then god indeed WANTED that baby in question, to be born of rape. That's all, there is no "alternate meaning" or any ****ing sentence semantics that need to be played here.
"God intended to happen" is pretty cut and ****ing dry. God could have a baby born of many different means, and Dick clearly, clear as ****ing day, said the rape was a choice of god's. intended to happen"
Who's comprehension sucks? Oh right, yours. I'm your Lord and Savior Almighty, so stop detonating smokebombs in your workboot widened **** chute in a desperate attempt to cloak the truth before I take a page out of Evil Dead 2 and infuse your humped raw paw with a demonic life of its own just to laugh at the look of terror in your glazed over peepers as it chokes your pencil neck in revenge for all the times you forced it to choke your scrawny chicken.
Tuff, you aren't a big picture guy are you? You vote for a party based on the direction they represent not on the opinions of two individuals. What else is sensible?
I understand that (the underline), but would you not agree that there are also some individuals who represent a party better and worse than others? You may not, but I do have certain things that will make me switch parties. I don't consider this an "abandonment" of the Republican party, more of a wanting a certain individual or two to be kept away from any part of the United States Congress.
Remember that guy? C'mon - HE should have a say on laws in this country? He couldn't pass a 5th grade science test. (and his "people" gave three different reasons for that comment. Skechball!)
Breaking from your preferred party on occasion is something this country needs more of, not less. Americans need to take a neutral look towards candidates and vote for the person who can make logical decisions and not be bought off, in an optimal world. That is how Congress was designed to work in the first place. Political parties are ****ing garbage and I wish they would be abolished. I certainly prefer both my states Congressional Republican reps in 2012, and the Republican presidential candidate over the Democrats, but the clown running for Governor here in NH representing the Republican party who wants Creationism in public schools and has similar beliefs to the "Dick" in question in this thread, won't receive my vote. I am completely opposed to Creationism in public schools. I will never, ever, support anyone who believes in that.
When I was in high school a friend of mine had never met his dad. When he turned 18 his mom explained why...
He was the product of a violent rape. His mom didn't abort him, and instead raised him. She said having him, changed her life, and instead of dwelling on the attack, she focused her energy on her son.
Her son was a great guy, and she said he looked exactly like her attacker...
For someone who is so focused on being "open minded" it sure smacks of hypocrisy to be totally against teaching all the available ideas about how man came to live on our earth...
The majority of Americans believe in Creationism, by far. It isn't even close. The biggest reason certain people are against teaching Creationism, is because they have hardened their hearts toward God.
But, according to science, if we can't test and repeatedly prove a method, you don't just accept one method over another without that proof. A scientific mind would look at ALL the theories, instead of forcing ONE theory to be "right" regardless if it is proven or not. Picking one theory and teaching it as fact, when there are so many holes in it, is not "science" at all. No one knows for sure what is right, so ALL theories concerning the origins of man should be taught in school.
Unless school is just about indoctrination, instead of learning to actually THINK...

May I use you as a case study for why we need to improve scientific education in primary and secondary schooling?

So just for the record, you would be ok with a school science class teaching your kids that we all live on the back of a giant turtle as fact? As a homeschool parent you teach your kids all the religious options as well? I'm going out on a limb here but I bet you just stick to the one.
Religious instruction in school goes both ways anyway. I had to deprogram my 1st grader last year because one of his classmates convinced him he was going to hell because he went trick-or-treating. I'm sure that kids parents will have to do the same after the evolution unit in science class.

I have no idea who that gentleman is.
You understand that conceding the seat to a democrat means they have additional power to advance their direction. In these politics, it really isn't about the individual, but the collective will. It would be logical to vote neutrally IF each party had the same ethos. That is not the world we live in.

I'll go ahead and cut that limb you went out on, off.
Teaching religion means teaching what others believe as well as what you believe. When we stop educating and start indoctrinating by only teaching one thing and ignoring all others. That is when we stopped educating our kids.
Course, that is what public schools do... So yeah.
I think it is important for kids to know what different religions believe. Just like my kids enjoyed the Harry Potter series when it came out. I didn't think they were going to turn into witches and sorcerers because they read a book any more than people should think that teaching about Creationism will turn the kids into televangelists...
Course, liberals actually DO think like that, so that is why anything Christian has to be silenced, as they are so afraid that any mention of something that could be deemed "Christian" is so offensive to them. (look at Tuff's comments above... seriously, what a harsh intolerant viewpoint).
So yeah, before you go assuming you know what I believe or teach, ask first.
I do teach my kids about evolution, As well as Creationism, big bang, and all the other theories out there on the origin of man.
What is interesting is how evolution teaches that black people are "less" evolved than white people. Which is a completely racist viewpoint, but good thing it is the ONLY thing taught in our schools, huh...
Would you post up some of your course material on evolution?

f1; Actual course materials are copyrighted. But, you can hit up any library as we use library science books for additional information that we cover...
iam; Ask Darwin... Have you even read "Origin of the Species"?...
Darwin talks about the "savage races" close to the same category as gorillas... He felt they were "inferior races"... What, you didn't get a complete view of what evolutionary theory is from your "education"?... Hmm. Sounds like you were indoctrinated instead of educated.
So you use someone else's material or do you use specific books? Would you name them and sections?
Our understanding of evolution and genetics hasn't advanced since Darwin?

I don't have enough time in a day to list everything my kids have used in their science education since we started homeschooling them 13 years ago...
The concept of "one" book for your education needs is a public school concept. It is not a homeschool concept. Homeschoolers use TONS of materials. Books, magazines, the internet, youtube, video's, education shows, field trips, hands on experiments, meetings with scientists, lectures, trips to locations that show what they are studying.
Last week my daughter was studying fossils, so their science group (a group of homeschoolers, who meet weekly for science experiments and field trips). Went to three parks in our area to search for and identify fossils. Each group of kids divided into teams, and searched out and found fossils, then they labeled them, and talked about the different viewpoints that scientists from different world views would classify their age...
And they competed against each other, and the scientist on site helped judge them at each location to see who did the best work, and who found the most fossils.
THAT is education. To limit your knowledge to ONE book for an entire year is SILLY and boring...
Homeschoolers that I know don't play that limited knowledge game.
If you were intellectually honest with your ideology, you would see that for evolution to be "true" there would have to be certain groups of "people" who were not "as evolved" as others... That is the racist side of the teaching of evolution that is glossed over in public schools, as it isn't comfortable... Darwin labeled them in his original teachings, and Hitler was working on a "master race" based on those same viewpoints...

Science constantly changes based on the information at hand. It was common belief in that day to believe that some races are less evolved. Hence many believed we were doing slaves a favor by civilizing them and bringing them to work the our sugarcane fields for free. Less evolved isn't really a good term in modern evolution as it hints to some final goal or plan.
If they took a section of the public social studies course, and devoted it to religions and also had evolution in science, would you e ok with that? I would be, but I bet the vocal Christian right would up in arms that Islam was in schools. They were mad that yoga was in gym class here, and that's just stretching.

Evolution is about adaption. You're assuming some linear progression of species that simply doesn't exist. Species adapt to changing circumstance.

Damn you're good at evading simple questions.
One book for a year is silly but a book for life is acceptable?

Really? So if they found soft tissue in a dinosaur bone, and then found more of this in OTHER bones, all over the world, they would change the dating as clearly the bones can't be hundreds of millions of years old and still have soft tissue inside?... Oh wait, no actually, they don't change as it doesn't fit their preconceived framework of millions of years...

Actually, if you look at evolutionary thought logically, then of course that ideology makes sense as the entire premiss of evolution is that given enough time, species will change for the better, so some HAVE to be worse and "still evolving"... (even though the opposite is true, the more generations down a family tree of a species, the more genetic defects damage that species DNA causing it to be more susceptible to harm from its damaged DNA. Ever wondered why so many are allergic to everything today?... Or how cancer and other diseases including genetic diseases have blown up?)

Would you be Ok if they taught Creationism side by side with evolution?...
See I don't care what they teach in public schools, as public schools have proven to be horrible at actually educating our youth. They don't care about "teaching" your kids, they just want them to learn to follow what they tell them and not think for themselves. I would rather let my kids learn, all they can, about everything... While teaching them reason and logic.
And that knowledge and ability to reason and use logic will actually serve them better than trying to limit their "education" to only the things that fit a certain narrow world view.
One book for a year is silly but a book for life is acceptable?
Seriously, don't be dense. My wife picked up 35 books at the library last week. They will go back this week and just about every one of them will have been read cover to cover. Do that times 52 weeks in a year and you get an idea of how well read my kids are.
AND we read our Bibles... You should try it, as you don't have to be a Christian to get a ton of knowledge out of the Bible. There is a reason it is the most sold book of all time...
I've read the bible, what knowledge should I have gained?

"for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God."
Meaning, no matter how good you are, we are all sinners, and that sin has consequences. The consequence is separation from God, and the only way to repair that problem is to cover our sins with the blood of a sacrifice. You can claim the Blood of Christ to cover you sins by accepting Him as your Lord and savior. And that will repair the damage to your soul caused by your sin.
That is clearly the most important knowledge of the Bible, but there is tons more usefull everyday stuff in there that will help anyone be a better person. Proverbs is a great thing to read everyday (one chapter a day) as it gives lots of wise advice on life.
