Just wondering what's going on with the NPPL in 2014?

At this moment in time, PB Promotions (the company that took over the NPPL after HB) has decided to no longer use the NPPL name or format. PB Promotions is now operating the American Paintball League (APL). Claims to have similar format to the Millennium format. You can find more information as it is released under the APL sub-forum.

The NPPL is finalizing dates and venues for 2014.

We will kick the season off in HB sometime in April.

Dates will be released after PSP schedule released.

I hope NPPL stays alive. I would love to see the NPPL come back strong. I don't see a need for a second national league with a very similar format.

Yes sir. Although we have never said there wasn't going to be a 2014 season, it would be easy to assume there wouldn't be based on our silence

Sorry, I must have misunderstood something I had read elsewhere. What I read is posted below. So my reasoning was that the new APL didn't renew. Maybe it is the way he worded it but it sounds like I understood just fine.

Maybe saying PB Promotions "took" over was incorrect to say as well. But they did run the events for the NPPL brand that is very clear.

I think it was clear that we (Paintball Promotions) never owned the NPPL name or trademark. We had a license to use the name last season. We have spoken to many of the Pro teams and many have indicated they are interested in playing in the APL. We will be announcing confirmed Pro teams in smaller groups over the next few months.

Schedule will be out once all the other leagues release their schedule. We are the new kid in town and will be respectful to make sure dates and locations aren't on top of other dates.

The rumor has it that DYE will be the NPPL paint sponsor and that they will no longer sell paint at PSP. I have seen this several places, but it is just a rumor for the moment. I do not know if NPPL will allow other paint vendors to sell paint.

APL is heavily backed by Valken and Valken is the primary sponsor. With this said, I do not know if APL will sell any other paint other than Valken paint. Both leagues will have a tough time fielding any pro players if they limit the paint companies.

id be shocked to see dye going after nppl. i thought dave young had a stake in the psp and dye has damage and ironmen. i highly doubt the iron men would come play nppl again. However who ever does capitalize on this has the potential to make some bank.

PSP and an NPPL appointee have had several respectful discussions about PSP Events, LLC buying the NPPL's remaining IP and assets. At the conclusion of those discussions PSP ownership has decided against the buyout as it was presented.
What the NPPL and the APL will do is up to the decision makers in those leagues. I have no knowledge or concern with those plans.
The PSP will continue to provide events, continue to balance our business in a manner that maintains value and long term stability for the teams, players, industry, the sport, and our employees, to the best of our ability.
PSP has grown in a stagnant economy with a down industry because we offer a tournament focused on fair competition, we offer stability and dependability, and we focus on tournament paintball as our business core. Once we stabilized the functionality of our events, we broached the huge task of delivering our events to a larger worldwide audience with our webcast. Once we feel we have that project stable and maintainable, we will reach outside of the industry.
PSP is pacing ourselves for the long haul and not interested in short sighted ego induced endeavors, nor will we make knee jerk decisions to win meaningless sprints.
In the coming weeks PSP will announce new hires, new policy, new plans, and schedule/pricing/prize packages for 2014. Until those announcements are made, everyone would be better served by not putting their confidence in any rumor type info that makes it's way through the grapevine. It's almost always wrong in one way or another.

Yeah I was wondering when HB will kick off, they said that dates would be released after the PSP schedule but I haven't heard anything yet.
