New DV8 Pics
New pics of the DV8 are in.
Thanks to Defiance and Novak Mark for the following info:
I was asking Defiance and Shelly some questions over the internet last night, and thought it would be a lot more helpful to other people if I had wrote down the questions and answers and posted them up. Here it is...
Where will the LCD readout be located on the gun?
-In the grip frame
What do you mean by 'in the grip frame'? Like an angels?
-Similiar to the Angel LCD. Buttons will be mounted in the tray though.
What will the buttons control?
-The buttons will control menu selections. 4-20 bps (plus unlimited mode if used with an eye), eye support, feed support, All modes that are on the Chaos chip, After-ball-delay time (for eye) fully adjustable from 1-20 ms, feed control spin-time adjustable from .5 to 2 seconds, LCD backlight brightness, buzzer on/off, game timer adjustments, dwell, etc. etc. etc. etc... It will automatically boot into whatever modes you had it in last time you turned the system off, unless you set a DIP switch to tourney lock it. Plus, the first time you boot it up, it will prompt you for your name, (up to 11 characters), and hard-codes that into the eeprom. From that point forward, that entry cannot be modified by anyone but us, and will display a 'welcome, (your name)' screeen every time you boot. (Kindof a cool-ness thing, but works as something of a security feature as well).
Any idea on a price yet?
-Price is looking to be around the $200 - mark.
What chip will it come with?
-An LCD version of the Chaos Chip
Will it be easy to install? Or would we have to send it in ourselves?
-No it doesnt have to be sent it. some people may want to though cause it does require the holes to be drilled for the buttons.
They're 99% done and Defiance is working as hard as possible to get caught up and on schedule.
P.S. - Sorry for you guys with slow connections.

actually the DV-8 does not include a new grip frame, it comes with a new board with lcd display, new grips with window, and a data link cable that way future re-programming may be possible in the future

No it comes with new Grip panels cut out for the LCD, but the actual metal grip frame stays the same. E-mail defiance@dcpaintball.com for more information.

JRM is right it comes with new grips with windows cut out...actually they were stock grips that were just cut but then defiance upgraded them to APP grips. he said that they are made out of the same material as the stickies. he couldn't use stickies cause the machine that cuts the grips left part of the logo on and they looked weird

yeah i guess so, the grips that are supposed to come with are are from Allen paintball products. i am not sire if it is the rubber split grips or not but from what defiance says they are the same material as dtickies so they should feel the same. i tried the dye sticky thing and even he wanted them cause they fit ripper frames so well but he said they just wouldn't work. try emailing him his site address is www.dcpaintball.com

defiance said that the standard grips would be clear, i requested black ones as i don't like clear grips especially on chrome frames.
