That has nothing to do with being a purebred or a mutt. It has to do with how much effort has been put into training the dog. We have had mixes and now have a purebred. We have gotten compliments on the behaviour of all of them. And they all were/are able to be left alone uncrated without doing any damage to the house.

Well you couldn't be anymore mistaken. If anything it is the other way around. Not to hate on mutts and people adopting mix breeds, I applaud that. However mixed breeds are usually the dogs that tend to be confused and a bit of a handful due to the different breeds in them wanting to instinctively do different jobs.

That makes as much sense as the statement that mutts are better behaved then purebreds.

I have both a purebred Aussie and a Mixed Breed Rescue and can tell you both those statements are false.
If the dogs are misbehaving all the time, the owners need to get out and do stuff with the dog. Taking your dog for a walk or letting them out in the yard isnt the fix. GIVE THEM A JOB. My Aussie does Disc and Agility and my Mixed Breed does Agility. We are always out doing stuff. Wether its practicing, going to Agility class or competing. My dogs rarely get into stuff and they freeroam my house all day while I am at work.
If they get into something its because I didnt get them enough excercise and they are bored.
Bottom line....The best dog is a well trained and behaved dog.

Standard poodle.
Here is why:
-40-60lbs
-Friendly
-Any color available
-Strong, athletic, agile (originally bred as hunting/retrieving dogs, very strong swimmers)
-THE second most intelligent dog breed in the world right below the border collie
-ZERO SHEDDING EVER, they don't have fur they have hair.
-Very trainable
-They can be cut with a variety of different hair cuts shaved poodles look just as manly as any lab, but fufu poodles attract a lot of women at the dog park.
If you're asking the overall best dog breed, you would be hard pressed to find a breed with as much going for it as the Standard Poodle.
edit: I forgot the fact that they are great guard dogs as well

Not quite- Nova Scotia Duck Tollers are one of the 5 different retriever breeds recognized by the AKC- the other 4 being the Labrador, Golden, Flatcoat and Curly Coated.

Italian greyhound they run really fast and explode if hit by a paintball. Nah just kidding I love my dogs. They are small hippy dogs, but fun as heck to watch them play. They are really good companions, too.

I like the cattle dog personally.
Aussies are great dogs.

They are all very smart and make a great pet/working dog

the best dog is the one the owner puts in the effort and trains them correctly. different breeds require different attention. there is no best dog.
in my personal opinion, if i had to choose, i would say chessy retriever. source: my family has owned a kennel for 50+ years and we have bred multiple breeds including chessys, multiple pointers, pinschers, and german shepherds.
and stuff like italian greyhounds and huskies are not recommendations for first time owners. especially huskies.

Labrador would be the best. They are calm, friendly and easy to adopt.

I couldn't agree more.

While I personaly agree, the behaviors that make them "the best" come partly from their breeding, and partly from how they have been raised & trained. You very rarely find well bred Labs in rescue.

hai gamin
In most cases beagles its a good pet.
It's good with children.
They love to interact with people, and children are especially fun.
