I remember me and some bros running trust scams in this game back in the 2d days. "Trade me a piece of rune armor, and I'll trade it back with a mask of your choice", rune back then was expensive as ****, and top tier stuff.

They would trade me items and I would simply log out, ****ing idiots.

I made MILLIONS of gold doing this, and then traded gold for real money (gold was several dollars for 1 mill back then), I kept doing this for a long time, I was making more than my friends working their **** minimum wage jobs.

I used to bot ~20 accounts on woodcutting, transferring the logs to an account that transferred to another safe account. Then selling the logs on the game for gold which I sold online for like 2 dollars a million.. Made some bank back in the day. I might start doing it again but it seems it's a little harder to get away with now
