Nope, you just can't paint this kind of plastic!
Even if you sand it, once you bend the plastic the paint will come right off!

How thick is the material? Since its pretty much like a rubber coating. It doesnt seem that thick from your pics since the holes seem like they havent been filled in.

I would also like to state that the ltg killer dude is really nice and must be high or stuck at work and using pbn to sneak away! but really good job man A+ help! SCREW KRYLON FUSION (apparently) lol!

Alright, I got soo sick of looking through everyones post saying that the paint is chipping. 20 bucks says everyone of you guys thats masks are chipping didn't sand it before you painted!!! Paint must have a surface to hold onto, if the surface is too smooth, it will not stick for very long. I've never painted a mask, but i've painted my share of cars (Gone to collage for auto collision and repair) and I suggest sanding the mask with some 600 or 800 grit paper before you even think of painting, use some wax and grease remover to take all the other gunk still left on the surface from playing with your mask, then use a tack cloth to pull up all the left over stuff from the scratches from sanding, NOW, your ready to paint, apply the primer your wanting to use, 2 mediu coats will work just fine, after it dries, spray one very very light coat of the color your wanting to make the surface somewhat tacky for the other coats of paint to stick to (Prevents runs and stuff), after a few minutes of dry time, apply 2-3 more average size coats, finally, apply 2-3 layers of clear coat medium-to-thick more towards the medium side, let dry for atleast 24 hours before you do anything other than look at it! Peal your tape off about 2 minutes after you apply your last coat of clear.

If you follow all the steps I put here, you will not only have a mask that looks good, but will hold up without chipping!

Hope this helps everyone that was having chipping problems!

everyone listen to this guy!! he knows what he is talking about..my dad is the co-owner of a collision repair buisness and he told my the same exact thing..I painted my stock ion body like this and it helped alot...and to add to it do the first coat of clear just like the first coat of color so it prevents runs..you can also wet sand the mask with 600 wet or dry...i think it works better than just using 600..but just my opinion...

And thank you paintballking72, I've been talking to the mods on here, and I'm about to make a new thread with pics that better describes how to paint a mask. Anyone have a mask they want painted, just ship it to me, I'll do the work for free! You must pay for all the shipping though, that includes sending it back! I'll buy all the paint and supplies.

Ok so i have been through most pages and just want to clarify.
I have profilers and i am going to make a reverse white and black with possibly stars or somthing.

Is clear coat a finish or primer?

1. put painters tape over lenses and sand mask with 600 grit
2. 1 coat of primer ?(what kind?)
3. 3-4 coats of KRYLON FUSION
4. Let it sit over night
5. 1 coat of finish? (what kind?)
6. let sit for night then

will post pics of before and after.

Clear coat is the last thing you put on your paint, primer, does ecactly what it says, primes your serface to paint.
Step on is right, you can use tape to cover any area you don't wanna sand also, but change the tape after, or it will seap through the tape.
step 2, use about 2-3 coats of primer, it's purpace is to bite into the plastic, and make the color you painting ontop of it come out the way you want.
step 3, 4, and 6 are right, but put 2-3 coats of clear on not just the one. The clear, makes your paint more shiny, and protects the paint under it. If a rock hits it or something, it'll chip the clear and not the color. Feel free to PM me with anymore questions, i'm more than willing to help you in any way I can.

Well this one guy took his Flex 8's painted them black (Krylon Fusion) he did one coat, light enough to see through, and then waited 48 hours. Did another layer heavy enough so you can't see the blue and it looks great I have just started doing this and it looks great.
