Seriously, i'm not even going to slightly defend him. I drive fast occasionally but at least I have half a brain.

After watching that video it sounds like they weren't wearing seat belts and it was raining

I'll push it around really wide, deserted corners. Rarely go faster than ~85. I'm a lot more paranoid than I used to be.

Hell I've never even been above 60 when I was driving and that was on a completely deserted road. When I was a passenger, that's a whole different story.

Drove down this twisty narrow road today for the first time in years. I used to drive crazy on that road going like 45-60 around the turns and stuff in a 94 Grand Prix. While I was on it today, I was surprised I am still alive today. I didnt take any of the turns quicker than 25-30 in my far more capable mazdaspeed 6. The road is BARELY wide enough for 2 cars and the turns are all completely blind. Some of them had old barns and stuff right on the edge so you couldnt even swerve off the road if another car was there. Point is... we all do stupid **** as kids when we first start driving. Don't blame the car or parents buying kids sports cars for their first cars. New drivers will be dangerous in anything.

But he wouldn't have been showing off to his pals at 100+ in a 130hp Corolla, would he?

Most of us wouldn't have been driving stupidly with four people in the car.
I will 100% agree there. Again, maybe a bit spirited if someone asked me to, but they'd be wearing a seatbelt. My brother loves having fun so I'll have a bit of fun with him as well but that's it. I couldn't live with myself if I killed someone else from my stupidity.

I disagree. I personally know a kid who put himself and 3 others in the hospital for trying to drift around a corner in a base model Mazda 3. Another guy who crashed and killed himself and his passenger in a Toyota Camry going way fast down a road, and another who flipped his truck going 100 around a turn and killed himself, his GF and injured his friend.

Hell, I've even had some fun in my mom's Sonata. It handles like a god around turns.

Uhoh. What happened?

Edit: Holy ****, I didn't realize the only one who lived was the driver. Damn his life sucks.

Some people are over reacting, though. Let's be real, for the price of an STi you can get a 2013 Mustang GT with 420hp. That thing can get you into trouble real fast. With 300hp, the STi isn't really that fast of a car and the AWD only makes it safer. Some guys on NASIOC were flipping out that a kid would have this kind of a car. ****. My brother will probably get a WRX as a first car. It's not really that fast, not by any means.

We don't know if it was even his car, do we? It said he only had his permit. Maybe it was his dad's car or something.

The article said it was an early graduation present I thought?

I know the feeling. When mine let go, I'd noticed a slight bit of what almost felt like engine mounts coming loose in the engine bay. I let it sit all day and when I went to crank it after school it would barely crank, wouldn't stay up, died like 10 times in my short drive home and was making the infamous rod knock/spun bearing sound.

I was so sad.

I guess it was for the best, though. I have a 205 that can handle as much power as the engine walls can handle.
