Funny how people who stumble upon 500k can still get government assistance. I have two houses and I have bills to pay? LOL WTF? Are you serious bro? I think the welfare system needs to be reviewed and more restrictions put on them as well as jail time for people like this chick.
I won't be surprised when some of you out in left field try to defend her.

I don't see what point is being made in this thread. The lady committed fraud and was found guilty of the crime. No point is being made here.
Because at the end of the day it is not about that one person, but a general problem on a much bigger scale.
This is why I have over time become more vocal about a end to welfare as we know it. It needs to be revamped, perhaps set limits such as 3-4 years total for life, job hunting requirements, and so on.

A democracy is, two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner.
A republic is, two sheep and a wolf voting on dinner.
A constitutional republic is, voting on dinner is expressly forbidden and the sheep are armed.

I think this is a fairly extreme case and I don't think anyone could defend her getting state assistance after a million dollar windfall. And I don't believe for a second that someone likes feeling like a burden and being dependant on hand-outs. Anything freely given has no value, but the reality is some people are born into institutional poverty and need help to get out of the cycle.
My first idea about revamping the system is put more emphasis on prevention and less on fixing it when people are already so far down that they probably won't get back up.
Also, mandatory random drug testing. I have no problem contributing to help someone in true need, but if I have to pass a drug screen to work in a job to support the program, they better be willing to pass a drug screen to receive benefits.
But for those who are born with or develop legitimate mental illnesses or whom suffer from illness or infirmity there should be a social safety net.
In a reasoned argument, please outline your beliefs that would lead you to want to kill the mentally and physically disabled?
I didn't mean to include physically disabled. But I still disagree with giving them a safety net.
Well I simply have never been able to fathom a single good reason to keep them around. I'd say that's the most simple and direct answer I could give you.

The problem with this is that drug problems are a huge reason people end up needing social services. A safety net is a safety net. Drug problems are healthcare issues. People in true need are often in a state that isn't pretty. The image of the pristine "person in true need" is a right-wing meme to make their brand of policy prescriptions more palatable. Don't fall for it.

If we get rid of the safety net for drug users, who would choose drugs and living in the streets vs being clean and a productive member of society?

It's not killing. Those people did nothing wrong to deserve to live with such an affliction. They are trapped souls in the wrong bodies.
I am a strong supporter of eugenics and I believe it would be the right thing to do.

Drug problems are not healthcare issues. They are a symptom of a society that is in the process of degrading both socially and culturally. In my opinion, hardcore addicts who refuse treatment should also be euthanized.

This may work to prevent new drug users but I think those already addicted to drugs can't be trusted to make a rational decision about meth vs welfare. They are going to pick meth.

Do you honestly think that before using drugs, people stop and think to themselves "oh, it's okay if I become an addict because I can go on welfare/food stamps/whateverelse"?

It isn't a lifestyle worth propping up by any means. Tossing money in their pockets doesn't help either. Treatment centers, family and friends. Those are the keys. I don't know why we are so obsessed with enabling bad behavior. This goes for more than just drugs.
