Are you having a problem running your Alien with a Spire?

Turn the G-Force up to 4.

I was playing an event this weekend and my Spire would stop feeding into my Indy when I went from a high rate of fire and dropped it down real low before the Spire had a chance to catch the ball stack up.

At first I thought it was the batteries but when that didnt fix it I tried the G-force and it worked like a charm. You might see a little bit of pop corning but at least it feeds!

tl;dr- The Alien is too smooth for a Spire at stock settings!

Spire + standard 12bps = fine.

However, I set mine to 30bps and it wouldnt feed quick enough.

How do you change the G-Force?

Are the Invasions worth the money? Really wanna try out alien but have never seen one at my fields, which is one reason I want one... How would you compare it to an Etek or even Ego 11?

Deffo worth the money. So simple to maintain.
The EGO11 felt great in the hands but never grabbed me by the balls. Not that it was a bad marker, it just didn't jump out at me.

Example of it shooting

Example of kick

That does look pretty darn smooth.

If you have a spire and use a smooth gun, you really need to experiment at home. Shoot the gun and look inside to see if it's activating every time you shoot. If not then adjust the G-force. Personally I hate hoppers with sound or vibration sensors. They always give me troubles at some point.

I've only shot about 2 hoppers of paint through her at a walkon, and about 3000psi worth of reballs...

Got a walk on later this month - think i'll take her out

I was only having a problem when I went from a high ROF (lots of vibrations) to a lower ROF (lower vibrations). I guess the Spire can't notice the change.

It's easy to change just look in your manual.

Invasion will smoke the Etek.. at the same price point. The invasion is more comparable to the ego11 but at half the cost. Some people prefer the feel of the ego while others like the invasion. They will shoot rather similar, some might say the invasion is smoother and others will say the ego is smoother. Egos to me have been hit and miss. Ill shoot a nice one one day and then ill shoot a tank the next day. Aliens tend to be on the mark every time.

You are talking $500 new for the Invasion and $700+ for the Ego depending on if you buy used or new. To me, its a no brainer. There really isnt much that the Ego has over the Invasion as far as features go.. the Ego is more milled down, and that does add cost to the marker.

As far as the etek goes.. The Eteks have a very high LPR pressure (90psi + last i knew) while the Invasion runs the LPR at 65psi. Comparable to the G6R. Even if the Etek is running 75-85psi, Its still that much more force moving the rammer and slamming into the valve. The Invasion, G6R, Ego are all much softer when it comes to smacking the valve open. If you do choose to go for the ego, make sure it is a 2010/11. The older models will not shoot as nice as the Invasion.

I ran the Spire on my Indy for about 10 cases or so and it did not give me a hassle. I have been shooting 15bps until lately, we have switched to 12.5.

the Spire has also worked wonderfully on my luxe (quieter, softer than the indy yet still no hickups)

Does anyone know if the sensors on the spire are programmed to set a baseline first, then accept any deviation from that baseline as a shot?

What I mean is....if you're shaking or dumping paint into the hopper the moment you turn the gun on......does the sensor detect that amount of vibration as "normal" and then wait for a higher amount before activating?

I remember the first sound activated hoppers had that problem if you turned it them on while someone was shooting a gun.....it would take that loud noise as a baseline and wait for a louder one before activating. They quickly adapted the programming in those hoppers. Who knows.

I could see people turning the hopper on and shooting instantly. That may confuse the sensor if it needs a couple seconds to set it's baseline sensitivity. Or I could be totally off and the baseline may be hard coded.
