those prices are no contract? if so, then it will be very good for the company in my opinion even if the phone is behind with the technology in it. but if those prices would be on contract prices, i dont see it being very much of an impact

Starting Jan 11th you can get the ip5 for Walmart's StraightTalk
$45 a month for unlimited everything, no contract
Can either buy the ip5 off contract or through monthly payments of $25 (edit- financed through a wally world credit card)

how does that work if you finance it and leave early? do they take the phone back? or do you then have to pay the remaining balance left on on the phone back? at $25 a month, it would still take 26 months to pay off the $650 price of the phone no contract. unless they are going to have it be the $300 on contract price and you finance that

it probably will take 26 months to pay it off, thats how they make their real money is getting people in debt. I work retail and our biggest push it getting people to open charge cards because the company makes free money on their interest payments. I live in a ****ty, poor area when im at school and i can promise you that 70% of the population here will have a financed iphone the minute they can lol

good point. especially since most people who shop at walmart aren't the most well off people and almost all of them are probably not paying their bill in full each month, therefore walmart is going to be making a decent amount of money

Well I got a commuter. I had one on my 4 and I loved it. I got it for like $25 from Verizon because I have a discount.

May end up getting a lifeproof later to see how I like it.

so does anyone own a 11" MBA ? i own the late 13" mba and i like it but i kinda wish i bought the smaller one. i like how small and compact the 11" is but i went with the 13" because at the time, i was able to get 4 gb of ram without having to order it from apple and i got it $120 off at bestbuy

anyway i was thinking about selling my 13" just to get the 11" but wanted to know how the battery is and performance? they rate the 13" at 7hours and the 11 at 5 but my 13 never seemed to get more than 5 hours (have flash block add on installed and have brightness around 3 ticks from off.

worth it to sell my 13" for the 11" or no?

They don't notice anything, but I can feel and see differences when comparing. I'm not closing the door on jumping ship... so I'm going to play and test more in the future.
I just saw this and wanted to comment. I totally agree with you that most Android apps are way behind their iOS counterparts. There are a few apps that you should take a look at if you're thinking about switching though. Besides the fact Android is more "customizable," which for me is pretty bull**** since I could care less about fiddling with settings, the sharing options are what would really sway me. Also, there's no way to set a default app to open certain files in iOS. (I use an HTC One X and an iPad 3 just for reference).

Anyways, here are some good apps you should check out:

Press - For reading RSS feeds; similar to Reeder.
Eye in the Sky - Weather; has a good widget if you want it on your home screen.
Falcon Pro - Twitter
Reddit Sync - Reddit
Swype or Swiftkey Flow - Swipe words out on your keyboard.

Those are the main apps that I feel are either equivalent to what iOS has, or better. For example, I prefer Reddit Sync to Alien Blue, but I prefer Tweetbot over Falcon Pro.

I love my 11" MBA. I had a 15" MBP before that so it was a big difference. I was torn between 11/13 but the battery life is great. Since I have a 27" Thunderbolt display I don't need the screen space I'd rather have the mobility. It's the perfect size IMO.

p.s. - we have an official Apple thread for Mac related stuff

The whole swype think is such a dumb gimmick IMO. I never used it on my droid x. Maybe I would have if I took the time to get used to it and adapt to it, but I never cared to from the get go.
