So after some more tinkering, it appears that my bore is probably just on the tight side of the tolerance spectrum. Axe tips all fit rather tight, as do 015 orings on any of the bolts. I threw some 90 duro 014's on my stock bolt and that gives me somewhat of a weak seal but it glides very smoothly. I'm going to stick with the stock bolt and pin until further notice.

On a different subject, does anyone have any suspicions that the JT Impulse is being discontinued? The price took a dive ($599), the site says "while supplies last" and apparently KEE no longer carries stock bolts/pins, although I haven't confirmed that myself. Just food for thought.

Imped we appreciate all the tinkering you're doing. I especially like that you affirmed my suspicion that the stock bolt is better than the aftermarket offerings. I'd love to goof around, but I don't have money to be buying bolt kits just to goof off with. I could test it with my Cure 3+ bolt from my Ego, but I doubt it would do anything. There's like a 3 year tech gap between the two bolts so I doubt there'd be any improvement by moving back to the older tech.

I feel you on the feeling like they're going to stop producing this marker though. Price reductions this drastic are never really a good thing in my book in regards to the life of the product. A great thing for a consumer looking to purchase though!

We were supposed to have a tourney this coming weekend, but not only did we decide not to play due to one of my players nursing an injury, but we don't even know if the event is even going to happen at all. The series could be kaput. Ah well, at least I'll have my beginner 3-mans to look forward to . I may also end up playing some more CFOA 5-man... We'll see.

Nobody else here might care, but you (Imped) might get a kick out of it. Got to wheel this past weekend. Been a while and we had a blast. Here's some pics if you're interested.

Yep, I think the stock bolt is the way to go. There may be very slight improvements to be had with the other bolts but not enough to warrant the price IMO.

And hell yeah man, good pics. Must be nice to wheel in pure luxury.

I spent the whole day Sunday dialing in a buddy's suspension and steering. Haven't done that in a good long while.

It really is nice. I see all those open top rigs out there in the dust and heat and I'm really thankful, haha.

Yeah, I've been neglecting the truck a bit since I've been a daddy and started back playing paintball. Been trying to catch up on a huge laundry list of maintenance items. Mainly fluids and suspension consumables... balljoints, bushings and what not. Good thing she's a tank. 187K hard miles and still runs like the day I bought her.

Just started having problems.

Thank you.
Try putting your marker on 15bps semi - capped.

As for bolts, stick with the stock one. It is the best bolt for the Impulse.

Hell yes. Didn't get any play time in this weekend due to work.

Have you guys been keeping tabs on the new Cyborg 6? I'm pleased that our Impulses are lighter and more efficient....and likely more comfortable (although I wish the LPR was completely internal) and smoother. $599 vs. $1500

Didn't play. The tourney I was scheduled to play was canceled though we decided to pull out prior anyway. So I wrenched on the truck and spent time with the family.

Cool vid! Though I didn't sit through a 30 mins of it. I consider myself a fan of the MacDev product even though I've never owned one. I really liked the old Borgs. This one seems sort of vanilla to me. Kinda looks like an Azondin gun or something at a glance. Oh well. I'm sure it's a fantastic product... but I ain't payin' $1500 for it.

Oh, I'm a huge MD fan. I've owned a ton of Cyborgs--several 05/Sonics, several 06's, several 07's and a couple RX's. I am not a fan of the RX platform but I loved the older ones. I'm sure the new one is a straight champ on the field but for that price it should definitely impress me more than it does. Regardless, I look forward to trying one out....a local guy ordered one so I should be able to check it out soon.

i was really hoping for a shooting video somewhere in the 30 mins

sure looks nice but for 1,500 bux, it better shoot unicorns and rainbows

i could keep shooting the impulse and proboly not notice much difference

i too consider myself a fan of mac dev even tho i've never owned one, i would love too tho

Played today--was a great day, albeit a bit hot.

The Impulse was flawless today (stock bolt and pin) and I must say that I'm in love with the Pinokio Speed. My buddy is wanting to pick up an Impulse and tried it out and has the same feelings toward it that I do--very comfortable, points naturally, super smooth. I did some basic tuning and ended up at 2.5 turns in on the LPR and 11ms dwell for ~285 fps. Super smooth, consistent, and efficient....and for those of you that complain about noise, mine is quite pleasant with the Lurker barrel and it only seems to have gotten quieter. It's no louder than my Axe now.

Happy Labor Day guys, don't work too hard.

Nice! Yeah, it was HOT in these parts over the weekend. Looking forward to another 3-man with my buds this Saturday. It'll still be hot. Looks like I'll be hanging up trying to play anything really competitive and stick to playing these small events to get my fix. I may try out another scenario down the road. We'll see.

Man, I'd love to get back into some small 3 or 5 man tourneys. The only real good competition I get now is at scenario games.

Have you ever tried looking into the Minor League Paintball series superman? Its a Southeastern based tournament series. Brings all the best talent in the southeast. D5, D4 and D3 divisions so I'm sure you'd find something that you and your team could play.

Thanks. Yeah I've looked into it. Have some friends that play and ref in it. More travel than I'd like to do and more than I like to invest at this time. I think I'm just going to enjoy paintball recreation-ally when I can, and less competitive. I think I'll actually enjoy the sport a lot more if I do. In my return to the sport, I've realized that everything that was wrong with it when I left... Is still what's wrong with it today.
