Contact Connector Options?

Hi voided warranty readers. I'm considering going above and beyond with a M98 eye install. Ideally, I would like to have the eye wires fastened down in their place before ever putting the clamshell body together. This will require some sort of connector between the wires in the right half and the eye component in the left half. This does bring up concerns of the integrity of another connection.

I'm wondering if anyone has done this in the past, and if so, how it worked out. I'm looking on Digi-Key and there are so many options, but I'd like a two circuit connector. So far all I'm seeing are build-your-own parts and I'm trying to avoid making the contact housings. Glued or fastened in place would work. With careful placement and alignment a pin/socket connector could work also.

I welcome and appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

that sounds pretty awesome but i'm concerned about the strength of the connection holding up between the shells (if i'm following what you're wanting to do.) I know personally even on my ancient all original from the release date has issues coming apart cleanly without twisting slightly (one end or side will come let go of the other clam shell first.) do you plan on using a vertical adapter? because if not that offers up alot of free space for wiring and a connector to the feedneck side of the shells.

It would be superb if I had all that room to work with, but this build uses a vertical adapter. I have max of 0.125 currently and could probably stretch that to a bit wider connector with some more milling, say 0.200. The only connectors I have found that are close to working are board mound rather than surface mound, unless I want to build a connector housing for these.

I have made some tabs yet to be installed that will hold the wires in their intended place during assembly. So, that will have to be sufficient to keep the wire straight while the unconstrained length is (tugged) into place.

Something like that yes. I've never owned a Blackberry, so how large are these? I'm imagining these are to large or tricky to mount.

i would honestly say create your own. from what i'm seeing you'll either end up hacking some connections to pieces trying to get them small enough or you'll lose too much strength out of the clamshells. just create a simple copper contact point to complete the circuit to the other clamshell eye

I'm definitely going to consider doing just that if these tabs don't do the trick. I think they will though.

well if you posted up a picture of what you're talking about with those tabs i could get a better idea of what you have going on.
