After punching deep into Allied territory, the hard-fought German advances of the Ardennes Offensive are now in peril from the gathering Allied counter-attack. The spearhead of the Wehrmacht has reached the Meuse River, and 25% of the German troops currently hold the two key bridges vital for moving troops and supplies forward to continue the advance. This group of defenders may start anywhere in the villages of Houmont, Tronte, and Chenogne, west of the mulch berm. They have the support of a strategically placed Pillbox on the west side of the Meuse, and reinforcements are on standby at the north Command Post. The reinforcements will be released when notified by a ground messenger that the Allied attack has begun. The German troops may also reinsert at the West Hospital (Hospital A) for this mission; afterwards control of the hospital will be based on the mission flag placed there. Defend and hold BOTH bridges, with the red flag flying at the end of the mission to earn success continue the conquest of Europe!
Meanwhile, it’s time for the Allies to try to turn the tide. In order to stop the German advance, they must assault and control the two key bridges across the river the Germans are defending. Having successfully defended Bastogne in the previous battle, their forces will start inside the firebase there. However, the Allied armored reinforcements are still working their way up from behind. You will need to send a messenger on foot back to release them to join the battle. The Allies will use the south Command Post for reinsertion. The terms and stakes are the same as for the Germans – take and hold BOTH bridges at the end of the mission – all or nothing!
