I have an Azodin Kaos Pump, and I love it. It shot well out of the box, and I have since added a freak kit to it. Since it has an AC threaded barrell, it makes a kit like that worth it since I can use it on my other gun (an Axe). While the Empire Sniper is a fantastic pump- one really can't compare these as the Sniper cost over twice as much. Azodin recently added an online store on their website, and they are selling refurbs with a six month warranty for 140. Pretty good marker for the price. An autococker conversion is also a great way to go, highly customizable, but if you are not that familiar with pump, or just want to buy something ready to go, it may seem a little overwhelming. Overall- I don't mind the "fart" noise on my AKP, and the only changes I have made is a feedneck (it comes with a twist lock feedneck, it will hold a hopper- but it is not as good- or as easy to change hoppers, as a clamping- I made that change) and then the barrel kit. However you decide to go, I hope you enjoy getting into pump!

Empire Trracer is a great starter. Also look into the new Spyder pump that can shoot FS mags if your a scenario/woodsball guy

The barrel kit that comes with the Empire Sniper is pretty sweet already...

Unless you are actually using the correct name for an unconverted autococker...in which case, freak systems get my vote. find a barrel you like the look of, get it bored out for inserts and buy a couple of inserts that fit the paint size range of your local area.

I started out pump with an Azodin Kaos pump and i had so many leak problems. gun shredded orings. i then got an empire sniper and hated it. way too heavy and stiff for a pump. i got an autococker outkast for 250, almost half of sniper, and love it. i would never get rid of it. put a deadly wind barrel on it and its quiet and accurate. Autocockers all the way!

My first pump was and still is a Tippmann SL68. I thought it was the best until I started using other markers and realized its limits. Try to buy used from someone on PBN and just start playing. You really need to try many different markers because the perfect marker for you might not be what I would choose.
Probably anything with a decent barrel would be OK.

I love my azodin, for all the farting problems you simply switch a spring with a spyder gun. And im pretty sure we all have a spyder somewhere ahaha. In my opinion any lowend pump that you look into is going to be just fine. Put on a decent barrel, get some quality paint, correctly bore size, and the rest follows.

i never really understood why people hate on trilogies so much compared to prostocks....after you take the pneumatics off the only real difference are the springs, trilogy uses an 11/16th valve....but its not like its less quality. its the same valve used in newer black magics, JOLE's, and the SR.

Sorry about this, but I have to disagree. The trracer, for around the same price, has all of the same features, plus more. I'm not saying the SL68-II is bad, I have one and I use it a lot. But you can get better without spending much more. Even the new spyder hammer 7 would be a good starter pump. Plus, it gives you the ability to shoot mag fed or hopper fed. But my personal opinion, go on ansgear.com. Buy the azodin kaos pump, but do NOT get the regular one. Get the black/gold special edition. It comes with sick colors, a single trigger, on/off ASA, and an upgraded regulator. And here is the best part. It is only $20 more than the regular one. It is $199.95, and ansgear.com is the most reliable website out there for new paintball stuff. I know that is more than your price point, but you will not be disappointed.

I have an Sl-68 II and I've had it for 4 years now. I have not had a single problem with it the while time, shoots straight, is light, tougher than any other gun, and has a good feeling to it. Also its really easy to take apart to clean. Yeah its basic but its the most solid gun I've owned, and I've owned quite a few. Find one used and you wont regret it. Actually has an intimidating sound to it too, unlike many other pumps (kaos....).
