First Shocker- Please advise

Just bought this shocker, its my first one and want to know what essential upgrades there are. It is stock as far as I can tell so any advice would be appreciated. I dont play in tourneys at all if that helps.

Thanks!!!

I'd lose the stock trigger and call it done.

i found out i was addicted to paintball the very insant after i had finished running n' gunning down the snake and eliminating a 3 man team. i had never heard the word "bunker" in my life, let alone take out more than 1 player in a single game.

its pretty much ready to go, unless you start to play tourney and stuff shockers are already pretty good stock and you already got some decent upgrades. only thing i would get for sure is a new board you can get a dynasty tadao board on pbn pretty cheap, i got one on here for just $20. Eventually you may want to get an HE (high efficiency) bolt kit, and maybe a freak barrel back piece with a few inserts, you can get that pretty cheap on pbn also, and a CP on/off wouldnt hurt although the stock asa is decent already

because you don't play tourneys you won't have the need to upgrade as much as many here do. Though don't be surprised if you catch the upgrading bug lol.

The shocker is an amazing gun with many options but if you're just a REAL CASUAL player then you probably won't find the need to upgrade anything.

I would suggest buying a good bolt system if it isn't already equipped with one. And nobody is a big fan of the on/off it has on there. The Mini CP is a good way to go. After that it becomes personal preferance combined with what you need your new marker to do for you. (faster shooting, more consistant, etc.)

Only thing I would think of changing is grips virtue red argile style save your money for field fees and paint and go play.

http://www.compulsivepaintball.com/i...c.asp?ic=10832 - bolt kit

For the barrels yeah it only uses shocker threaded barrels...

if you want to save your money and play why would you buy grips? that's absolutely pointless as grips won't help you gain anything.

if you're just a rec-baller then that gun will be fine. my previous shocker only had an evolve bolt, cp trigger, cp asa, and a ccm feedneck as upgrades and it was perfect. i wouldn't have changed a thing.

As already stated, if this is just for rec-ball, then you may find that it is perfectly adequate as it is.

Otherwise, you may want a roller bearing trigger, aftermarket board and some kind of HE bolt kit.

You may want to think about a Freak back and some inserts, but depending on what paint you normally shoot, the stock AA barrel may be just fine for you.

It would be nice to get rid of the stock ASA at some point.

The stock board should suit you fine for now, but if you really like to tweak the electronics and get those perfect settings, I'd suggest an aftermarket board; either Tadao or the Virtue OLED (if you have the money for the latter).

As Uziel Gal stated, an HE Bolt Kit of some sort will help (if you don't have already) if you keep running out of air during games.

The feedneck installed (Q-Lock) has a death-grip on essentially every loader out there. Plus, it's pretty low-profile, so IMHO, you're set with that.

If you're looking for an aftermarket ASA because you don't like the SP one, I suggest looking into this: http://store.deadlywind.com/product/...7baea71d6.aspx
^^^ I personally own it and love it. It's light, bleeds air, and the macroline air fitting is positioned in the center, so you don't have to worry about elbows sticking out on the side.

there's a lot of upgrade options for the shockers and you can spend a bundle on it but i would suggest you get yourself settled in first and play with the marker as much as you can...

your marker is okay for the time being and i actually tried to place a bid on that at one time as its a decent platform to start with..

if at all -- and provided you have extra cash, i would definitely recommend you look at a barrel system that will offer you a range of options for paint-barrel bore match...

you can look at the ..
~ freak system
~ stiffi, sly, deadlywind (if you like cf)
~ kaner, evil pipe, sanchez machines orbiums

...just make sure you benchmark your markers performance at every stage of the upgrade so you know what improvements you are getting with every upgrade you get...

and more than anything -- before you bring it to the next level, make sure you have a good goggle system to protect your eyes with...

enjoy p-ballin'...

if you don't have much money, dont' bother...the NXT comes excellent out of the box...if you are thinking about tourney's, i'd just add a board to get the different firing modes

If it's a stock sft then it has the stock (non-HE) bolt kit. Meaning your efficiency will be crap. A new bolt kit would be highly recommended if you don't want to have to fill your tank after every point/game

id slap on a cp roller trigger and SP pro touch grips. maybe a bolt if you find you need better efficiency.
