So I made a box magazine a while back...

Hey! Don't know why it never crossed my mind to post to pbnation but whatever...
A few months ago I made a BoxMag for my Project Salvo, thought Id share some pictures and a few opinions!
https://plus.google.com/photos/10009...68996077998481
The internals are just the mechanism from a Halo too, some jb-weld and other bits. Attached the board on the back of the box so its still easy to access and functional.
So far I haven't had any real problems with the BoxMag, I've since fixed all jams and glitches and it runs magnificently now, not only that but it hold significantly more balls than a regular hopper. Other than the added weight of it it is perfect for woodsball and scenario because of the lower profile. Please leave some feedback!

Well done. The insides look kind of messy, but no one ever sees the inside.

One thing I'd be worried about is the life of the motor. There's a lot more overhead with having the halo push the stack up the tube, so it may be putting more strain on the motor.

I dont have much worry about the motor, but that is possible. And if I would get another opportunity to make another one it would me much cleaner, but as you said, no one sees the inside.

I only mention the motor because I tried something a bit more basic with a halo b on a warp bracket and the motor burned out after a few weekends of use. I'm sure the newer halos probably have better motors.

What are you using for a box? And how is it mounted, on the rails?

I'm using this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001BR306C it doesn't attach to the rail, the "magazine tube" on the box fits perfectly in the mag well of the Salvo, and other guns with mag wells.

Halo motors are a dime a dozen, if/when it fails he can just put a new one in there.

Yeah, it exploded into an argument over whether the Dye box mag or the Empire D*Fender was better.

I did a bad thing and bought both, wife agro soon when she sees the cc bill.
I had a local store pick up a box rotor from cup and bought the Dfender from Wicked Sports before ANS started shipping them out.

Box Rotor - A BEAST!!!!! yes it is a little heavy but I luv it. Easy to load and clean if a ball breaks. Holds 320 to 350 balls, never counted. Now all I need is to find a big enough pouch for it when I want to use mags with first strike rounds. Actually you can load like 4 or maybe 5 FSR in the mag part.

DFender - Cool innovative marker!!! Only disappointing factor with this marker is the aiming part with a full mask on, you need a scope to aim unless you just point and hope your first shot is in the vicinity. other wise this gun rips. When you hold and play with it you get this sense of reliability and confident that this marker will not let you down. Shot about 1000 rounds with no paint breakage.

Sciton...you suck...

But god bless you for comparing the two. Want a box mag for my DAM so bad. Have you tried a gas mask pouch to see if the box mag might fit in that?
