If it shoots fine it doesnt need a rebuild. Plus rebuilding valves can be tricky, the 98 snap rings suck to get out. Not much can really go wrong in the valve to begin with.

Some of the best shooting 98s are the well broken in rentals. If the gun shoots good just replace the o-rings and clean it up

What Duddy said. And if its really worn in you might need a new drive spring.

Ok I'm just going to replace the bolt and hammer o-rings and call it a day, plus I don't have the tools to take the valve out

Avoid messing with the valve. Run enough mystery oil through the ASA and it will be lubed and happy.

I wonder how they make the valve so bullet proof

What do you mean?

Only the 98 valves are a pain (except the new ones I think, I could be wrong). The clip they put in to keep the guts in requires a pick and patience. And usually you need to replace the clip with a new stock one, or TechT makes some C-clips that you can use a pair of C-clip pliers to remove.

A good metal valve in a plastic body with a good spring. It's overly simple.
