I just got an SLS in trade, the dwell is set at 10.5 and is sitting on 280fps. The gun seemed very loud to me, the paint was bored properly and I tried the silencer Cure 3+ bolt insert and it didnt seem to do much. The gun shoots great its just annoyingly loud. Im curious if all SLS' are like this or something is wrong with mine, thank you

I have heard the inserts make barely any change in noise. Paint may be a good fit but try the .685 barrel back. Depending on how many shots you have through the marker it may just be loud cause it's an Ego. A very common characteristic of Ego's.

i have the dwell at 11 ms and my lpr about 2.5 turns in from flush with the muffler insert as well and mine is "snappy" but not overly loud... if it were me i would tear the whole thing down (valve/poppet and all) and give it a good once over and see what happens! im crazy about the maintenance of my markers tho

worst case scenario...reset the board to stock and the lpr to two turns in from flush and go from there.

what valve is in it?? HP or LP?? put your LP in, set to stock and do that first bro

LP will take away a little effic but will make it softer.
Follow Tony advise on cleaning and setting, but LP valve will also help

The LP was in it and it was set to stock, still shot laud as hell,

I put my boomstick on it and it actually made quite a difference, not nearly as quiet as my friends ego 11 but definitely changed

The LP valve will make it softer in the feel of the shot but its still going to be loud. It's going to remain that way because, well, it's a loud marker.
You can reset everything to stock settings but its not going to change the sound too much.

would love to help you but it seems sometimes you get a quiet ego and sometimes a loud one. I have owned all. Couple of my 08's were quiet as a dm no joke my SLS was loud and snappy. my EGO 11's loud to did not like. Had one SL-74 that was pretty quiet now have a louder one. UGH!!!

i had a sl8r that was defining with the hp valve in and pretty quite with the LP valve in
however a few guys at my local field always joke that SL stands for SUPER LOUD

They really don't make a big difference.
I would set it up factory, then dwell/lpr tune tune the gun, with the LP Valve guide in it.
A barrel with lots of porting will make a bigger difference as well, but if you are expecting the same sound signature from an Ego as you would from a DM, Luxe, Geo, other spool, you are pretty much dreaming (unless you buy an LV1)
