sub'd. will be needing a barrel bored for freaks. the anno on the exterior is safe throughout this process? I'm buying an autococker which has a pretty nice anno job done, however, the bore is .689 which is just too big for my liking. I'm wanting the have the barrel bored, but want to verify prior that the anno on the exterior won't be damaged? I understand that there is always a possibility that something can go wrong and the barrel gets damaged or ruined in some way, but I'm just speaking in terms of how the final product generally comes out.

Let me know. I'm hoping to have the barrel by Friday.

You can see in this picture of his setup that it will be fine. The only hard contact on the barrel is in that white circle thing . That part of the barrel, the shank, is hidden inside the gun, so any marks that might occur will be hidden.

Have you done the 2 piece bob long that comes with the Insight? I talked to machine shop at work and they don't think there's enough meat to do the bore.

Love your setup! What size are your reamers and why use spiral with the first cut and straight for the final?

Yes I have done quite a few. They are difficult with my dedicated setup I think if you just used a 3 or 4 jaw chuck it would be impossible the shape would require soft jaws and a cnc to make them.

Trade secret but trust me they are just right

I actually like straight flutes for both rough and finish passes any more. They seam to have an easier time clearing chips out of the cutting aria.

Rules for Buy/Sell/Trade Forums
  1. Buy/Sell/Trade here on PbNation at your own risk. We assume no responsibility for any part of any transaction. Never send money or product before a deal is agreed to by both sides and full contact information is exchanged and verified. Do not rely on PM's. If the other party is unwilling to share contact information, then don't deal with them. Please read more B/S/T tips here.
  2. If you feel that you could offer a better deal, then make a new thread in the correct forum with your ad. Never post your item in another user's thread and ruin their chances at selling their gear. Do not post negative comments about someone else's item for sale even about their price.
  3. No flaming at all. Please be polite to both the seller and potential buyers. If you don’t like something being sold or the price the seller is asking, go to another thread and simply don’t post in theirs. Sellers also have an obligation to be polite to users who post in the thread. If it is a scam or violates our rules, report the post and specify in detail what is improper.
  4. We recommend you always check for new and old PbN feedback as well as the Theft Report Forum before considering any deal here.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins section. Please read and follow the complete Terms of Service and the complete B/S/T Rules as well. Most B/S/T questions are answered in the PbNation FAQ.
