Yes, its a sandbox game just like all the GTA's but this takes place in the 40's
I probably won't buy it, I bought RDR and it was good. But I like more modern settings like GTA IV

i was getting bored with Rockstar games, till RDR came out. I dont know, i feel like they play it safe by making a sandbox game with pretty similar ways to play it each time with each of their major releases.
Not saying their doing somewrong, it all just feels the same game, just different skin each time. it is indeed fun though.

It's open world but its not sandbox. You play as a police officer so you cant go around shooting/stealing till your hearts content.

The new tech they used for facial animations is insane. Huge drawbacks (characters have to look like their voice counterparts, and obviously it's a longer process since motion and facial are two different mocaps) but it looks so ****ing amazing.
I'm psyched for this. I love open world games when they're either:
1) Just incredibly fun (Saints Row/SR2)
2) Extremely immersive (RDR)
This looks like it's going to add a level 3 to that list since it's obviously going to have more rules than previous games since you play a cop in multiple positions (patrol, detective, etc) and you'll have more defined missions (solve X case, and steps involved in X case) but it looks like its going to be another home run.
I pre-ordered mine so I could get the extra case out of it. Even if its only 30-60mins.
Also as an FYI. Rockstar didn't make it. They are publishing it, and assisted in it's production most likely by feedback, but it was made by Team Bondi.

It would have been nice to get to play mulitplayer, that's what killed Mafia 2. I will still try it out.

I really dug Mafia II so I don't mind. MP is fun and all, but unless they contain it (Saints Row, AC: Brotherhood) it tends to be too big and slow moving. I'd rather have an engaging SP game w/ constant content delivered via DLC (as long as it's not too quick to where it should've been in the game in the first place).

True, but also since its a detective/cop game, I don't think a whole xbl theme of cops and robbers is what they wanted to show. As long as there is free roam, it should be fine.

Yea, after watching that it made me realize its alot more realistic than I thought, interrogations like..telling someone you have like so much evidence, catch that their lying, notice their facial expressions. I honestly thought it would interrogate them automatically and you just clicked on buttons. I have -80 bucks in my account, hopefully this 25% trade in on 4 games will help along with $20 coupon.

The facial stuff a little bit, but I think it's even more advanced than that, and less "cinematic movements".
I loved Heavy Rain, but it was really cinematic in everything it did (angles, movements, etc).
This is like a hybrid of your standard open world fare, and HR for sure, though. Facial stuff is far more advanced looking.

So...is it good? I'm still kind of on the fence on whether I should get this or not.
