What Does The Nw Player Want In A Tourney???read Now!!!!
Ok guys, me (josh bennick) and Kelly Dodd (fingers) from warpaint are doing some surveying. We would like to kno what the NW in a whole wants in a tournement series to get more teams to come out and make the sport more competetive/prevalent in this area. anything goes in this thread from prizes to pricing to field layout/quaility even to the quality of the bunkers that you play on/put your jersey all over to whatever else you may have an opinion on..also i have noticed that there are alot of 3 man series in the NW and was wondering if that is cool or if 5 man and Xball are wanted here..Seriously Kelly and i want your input to the MAXIMUM, also what field do you guys think is the best around here and why? and this isnt all for nothing..something will get done and your opinion WILL be heard, trust us guys..also you can pm me or kelly (fingers2r3). thanks alot and keep this thread alive! this is your chance to speak what you want and not get bashed, beginner or pro doesnt matter.
NOTE: DO NOT turn this thread into a field bash fest, this is not its purpose..the purpose is a good no GREST one i PROMISE you that.
5 man seems to be what alot of people want and as far as bunkers make sure that the bunkers you use are up to date and can hold air in them and not deflating every 2 or 3 games..

the thing that would mak it worthwhile for people to drive down there would be good prizes/cash money but thats jsut my opinion. Othwr ballers need to speak up

yes, i totally understansd the prizes vs. investment argument..but the other side of that argument is that we need players that are willing to play the whole series so that sponcers see it making noise and want to put their products up for prizes..but yes playing on a team, i dont want a case of paint for a 100 dollar day of paintball..and we are trying to squash that but we need ur guys input
a good 5 or 7 man series in recent or newer bunkers that hold up great! id say either cash or decent prizes metals or trophies of that sort, decent paint an refs that are expereinced to deal with problems in a professional matter!
if i think of more ill edit long 14 hr day lol...
more important would be to get a group that does not have any bad indavidual problems with nw players that can cause personal calls verses non personal (if you get what i am saying). an to keep things on all levels fair in legit reffing. use appa to keep all nw players up to date an div their own div
x ball is by far one of the funnest 5 man events ever known to any paintball player if there is a x ball tournament series op souljas will be there =) doesnt matter if its in oregon lol

Problem with APPA at the local level is that your local standing and ranking now affect your national level ranking on an individual basis. Just FYI alot of local events all over the country are debating whether or not to drop the APPA cause of this rule change involving local level players divisional ranking.

PSP and APPA seem to be fairly on top of things and proactive about fixing problems. If local rankings affecting national rankings become a real concern, then the issue will be addressed. Contacting them about your concerns might be wise.
As it currently stands, it looks like you can rank up to D2 by playing regional xball events and D3 by playing regional 5-man. I'm not sure how much of an issue this really is. I don't get the impression that D4 was never intended for highly experienced and dominant regional teams to go squash newish teams. I'd imagine it would take some very extensive regional xball play to rank up to D2. Not something that really needs to be worried about in the meantime.
As for APPA use regionally, it's a great way to limit sandbagging and the more series use it the better it works. Sure there are ways around the system, but it works better than the winging it approach.

I agree completely the issue was just that the APPA didnt inform any of the local or regional event organizers of this change and it did affect some teams on a national basis. All be it not from around here. And when contacted about the issue the response was pretty much sorry thats just the way it is now so deal with it.
But all in all the APPA is an outstanding resource for any event regarless of the size or format. I was just trying to share a bit of knowledge and give a heads up to the uninformed.

I think they mean 7-man OR x-ball. Either format can bump up your division from my understanding. When they refer to 5-man, I believe they mean traditional 5-man, like the NWPS.
