I had an M4.
We use a mixture of M16A4's, M4's, SAWs..... and I guess a few people still have the A2, but we're phasing out everything old for new stuff. My unit has mostly all M4's now.
Slowly we're getting more and more M4's, but I doubt we'll ever really get rid of A4's completely.

Because when you are wearing body armor with SAPI plates, the standard buttstock is way too long to be useable, and there is no such thing as 'cheek weld' when you're shooting. Another thing.. in real combat most firefights are under 100m. I am a sniper and have never even fired a shot over 400 in the real world

Any combat I was in was in an urban setting, and like he said 100m is just where the **** hits the fan so to speak

when you are wearing armor and a helmet, it is impossible to get a proper shooting position since you can't even possibly bend your head down low enough to tuck the stock between your shoulder and cheek. You just plant the stock against your shoulder and put your head behind the sights.

berserker you should look into a riser for the stock thats what both of my cousins used (served iraq, afganistan, and kosavo)
they actually duct taped a piece of something on the weapons to raise up the comb

Are you allowed to use your own personal weapon attachments or are they issued to you or what?

buy what you want, use what you want, but 8 million flashights and laser beams aren't going to make your bullet go any straighter

Haha, I realize this. I just read the last page with the discussion about optics and it's all clear now.

I like Oakley half jackets, and I believe alot of Army units are issuing either Oakleys or Wiley X's as shades.

I only use a Gerber/Leatherman multi tool, when it comes down to it unless you encounter a hand-to-hand situation you're only gonna use your knife to open MRE's and food rations.
