89D was my first choice, but I didn't have a license and there were no open spots, whatever **** it i wasn't going to be a food supply "specialist" or intel. so I went with infantry. We will see if that was a good choice next week haha.

For sure ^. I just meant in regards to customs and courtesies and whatnot.
We stood at parade rest and even though I'm sure we looked like total **** it still felt really cool.

well, my MEPS experience wasn't cool, nor did I feel "cool" standing at attention or parade rest. But I must say, most of the military personnel were cool as hell, and the civilians that handled paperwork and **** (other than the counselors) were *******s. I found that very interesting. I made it through the DEP without going to a single "future soldier training" and yes i am proud of that, recruiters suck.

there's your first real taste of military life, the only bearable civilians i've ever dealt with were the ones when I was de-mobing at Ft. Stewart.

When they told us to stand at attention when the Captain walked in and then go to parade rest, it just really hit me that I wasn't shooting the **** with recruiters anymore, this was actually happening. Kinda neat experience, definitely a memory that will stick with me.

It won't feel good when your standing like that in the hot humid sun for hours on end.
My recomendation to you is go download a soldiers handbook, i think they call it iet handbook now and read it, memorize basic soldiering things and then start on weapons. And hit the gym and run your *** off.

dude worse is here in the MI world.... everyone sings the hard *** cadences about shooting and **** but the only time i have ever even seen my rifle was the range... and even then ****ers barely qualify in some cases...

Dont worry man the army will ensure you are no longer "stoked" in quick order...

Thats what they told you? that youll likely reclass to some other high speed **** if you wash out of 89D school.... you know how many 89D washouts are intel analysts right now? or ammo specialists (supply)? or cooks if they wash out of the other reclass schools? Think about it man why is the army going to waste your security clearance they paid to get you just to reclass you to Cav Scout, or 11X.... When I came in they weren't even offering EOD to me but if I were you id ensure I make it through to avoid ending up in a bull**** job
Protip: Be observant. When people in the army who are above you tell you something try to understand WHY they are telling you this, WHAT their background is to cause them to believe this is the best course of action or the best advice or the best guidance, and then DECIDE if its applicable unless it is an order, cuz if its an order then just do it and grunt it out...

Yes... because slaughtering civilians (especially the women and children) is what the Army is all about... especially when they dare to purchase food, play at the playground or pray....
