Annodizing 101- chapter 1, Learning on the Curve

So I moved recently back to Florida and while selling some paintball items, made a fast friend here, BGNorm69, he was local so while sitting around chatting we hatched an idea

. We both are gun whores, both like anything paintball related, decided to try annoing guns.

After some research, we thought heck , lets try it out. Started getting the stuff needed and found out the hard way, alot more expensive than first though.

Anyways heres the first few guns done in order. We shoot vintage matrix, so thats why all are going to be along that line of markers. I have like 12 bodies to play around with while perfecting this.

First gun done was a gift to a friend for his birthday.

First attempt at my roommates DM3 fade.

This is one of my personal guns, modified frame take DM5 boards and has dm5 microswitch.

Heres BGNorm69s personal DM3, the vollies I designed and had machined by Thermodunamics.

As I said, finishing 1 gun tonight and another is already started.

Also ran into someone and he requested some parts for his quad, heres the test parts.

When you said ano 101, I thought there would be a bunch of failures... you must be hiding those

Looks good! How are you handling the heat? Don't let the ano bath get over 70F, and you will have a consistant, durable coating.

Actually no, we only redid the black/blue fade. But thats the order of things. We are working on a cooler, but we dont anno all day and the temp doesnt exceed the 70, thanks for the advice. We also bought a tumbler, works really nice, going to go bigger on the next one.

It's been a lot of fun working on these projects not every piece comes out perfect but we look them over ,troubleshoot and learn from our mistakes then re do them I had a pretty decent working knowledge of the processes involved from years ago doing auto parts for classic cars in my friends garage the most important lessons we learned so far is to clean the parts really good then have somebody else clean them again things are really progressing nicely and very soon we will try our hand at some splash anodizing

We already spend quite some time over there reading, trying new things. Ive been aware of you for a long time, nice work by the way as well. I wish I had your experience, life would be alot easier.

Impatient are we not?

Anyways, due to my impatience, I screwed it up 15 mins ago. Heres what I learned today, I drilled it to accept the bearing and it fit perfect and snug, but after ano, it didnt, was to tight so in my haste I missed the reallignment and now its toast, but I did learn something so now a total waste.

As I said it was perfect till redrilled and screwed it up, more to follow........Oh, BTW, theres a whole gun to go with it, pics up in the next few days.

sometimes you can push past ano and press the bearing in. A vice and two plates of aluminum on each side would of done the tirck. But no sense crying over spilt' milk.

Exactly, im going to remake the trigger today.

Heres Oarkos gun, this is the blue/black fade we redid.

Going to replace his feedneck and anno to match.

Heres the one that was being done a couple days ago. I was going to match a barrel to it, didnt decide if I wanted to upgrade with a UL or a CP, havent tried a 1 piece barrel yet.

The Green isnt showing enough in the pics, but lime green is in the works.

Very good work man! What yellow is that? I ordered florescent yellow, but i think they gave me yellow 3gl because its this nasty yellow greenish color.
