Per NPPL's press release:

The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Pure Promotions would like to thank every one who helped make the 2006 Boston NPPL Super 7 Event such a massive success! Parking figures show that 35,000 - 40,000 people attended the event over the 3-day weekend! This attendance surpassed all expectations, as this was the NPPL Super 7's first event in the New England area.

Following a recap meeting with Gillette Stadium, Pure Promotions CEO Bart Walkerdine said "The stadium were fantastically happy with the entire event. They were very pleased with the turn out, the people, the way every one behaved, including players, fans, vendors and staff. They loved the sport of paintball; loved the spectacle of it. They have asked us to come back and we are gladly accepting". Very pleased with this and the media coverage from the entire Boston a! rea including Rhode Island and New Hampshire news groups; the NPPL, teams and sponsors are definitely looking forward to returning to Gillette Stadium in 2007 and beyond.

With sold out grandstands each day, the trade show was massive and packed all weekend long. Sponsors collectively agreed that more product was sold on Friday at Gillette Stadium in Boston than Friday at Huntington Beach - making this trade show one of the most successful in the history of the Super 7.

Compliments are pouring in from teams, parents, sponsors and referees as many adjustments were made to improve the teams' overall experience at the event. Perhaps the most obvious was changing the refereeing structure from only one Ultimate Official for the entire event, to one Ultimate Official per field (six total). This way every call, dispute and decision was made on the field and stayed at the field.

The NPPL also changed the game schedule, which proved to be beneficial to the teams, referees and vendors. This new schedule has three time brackets of games rather than just two. Before teams would play their 4 games each day over a course of 5 - 6 hours, while the new structure has teams playing their 4 games each day over a course of 3 hours. The teams loved having to spend less time waiting for games, and being able to enjoy more of the event and trade show. Havi! ng three time brackets opposed to only two also cut down on the congestion in the Player Paddocks area. The referees were given two 40-minute breaks instead of one 1-hour break - giving officials an additional opportunity to rejuvenate; again adding to the overall improvement of the reffing performance.

Realizing that reducing the amount of time between games could cause problems as far as getting teams to their fields in time, the NPPL added an air station at each and every field. This way teams only needed to report directly to their field to get air and chrono in. Again, this modification was widely welcomed by the teams and added an extra element of ease to the event."
