I must express our appreciation to all the teams that played in the MAPL this past weekend, as well as our thanks to all of our referees and staff. Despite brutally hot (92 degrees F.) and humid conditions (Heat Index over 115 degrees), players and staff alike worked through it all with amazing calm and purpose. There was a dramatic lack of arguments or flared tempers, especially considering the trying conditions, demanding schedule and obvious fatigue on everyone's part. Short tempers are usually the norm in situations like these and they were rare and quickly dissolved, providing strong evidence of the caliber of people that were at this event. We are grateful.
Added to all this, two teams stand out as exemplary. Team F.A.C.K. won the Five Man Sportsmanship award, narrowly edging out L.I.F.T. Kids by one vote (referees voted for Sportsmanship). F.A.C.K. placed Third and L.I.F.T. Kids took Second. In my 22 years of competitive paintball I cannot recall a single team winning Sportsmanship and making the podium, much less the Runner-Up doing so as well. Very cool.
For event #3 (July 24, 25) we will be adding even more fans and shade for spectators, another mister and more cold showers.
Again, to all who were there at Event #2, THANK YOU. See you all in July.
