Alaskan Paintball Goals

Alright as many of you know there have been a lot of talk about changing many things about alaskan paintball so we should have a thread so put all our ideas together and get them written down so we acomplish something this year.

Our Goals this year*

1.Put together an Alaska Team to compete in out of state tournaments

2.Have More tournaments with more competative and fair play

3.Have more teams participate in tournaments

4.Have at least 1 xball tournament

5.Space tournaments throughout the year better

If you have any other ideas or suggestions feel free to post them

I would also like to know who would be interested in playing in some out of state tournaments so we can start getting organized

*Interested*
-e_friccero
-dirty907
-Keith0147
-Tooshka

*Just because you are listed as interested does not mean you will make the final roster*

I'm interested in the out of state team. Money may be an issue though, seeing as I spent most of mine buy new gear for this year.

I don't think we need more need more tournaments though. We had enough, we just didn't have enough teams. I feel like our number one is finding more active paintballers. I'm pretty sure everyone can tell how paintball seems to be dying more and more every year.

silas were talking refs that dont ref then play then come back and ref so the refing gets screwed up. were talking refs that ref not try to do both. but i think a a tourny or two more wouldnt hurt but they need to be well spread out and then i agree we need more new players our numbers are dieing out.

Refs don't play..? Who plays and refs? Thats not aloud.. Not to mention unfair. I don't get where you came up with that theory..

Only reason why reffing gets screwed up because there are not enough refs to watch each position.

If you want more players, bring more people. Spend more money. The reason why people are getting out of the sport are because they have jobs, families, or for some people paintball is the last thing on there to do list.

no refs that ref then oh my teams up then go get their gun go out on the field and play as a player then when they are doing shooting then put the gun away and go back on the field as a ref. we need refs that are paid to just ref that arent on any team in that tourny

Like is said, "Question is who knows how to ref paintball that doesn't play."
Find a paintballer that refs thats not on a team that has experience. Its hard to come across these kinds of things.

In a tournament thats the dumbest thing to do. Who does that in a tourney? I'd like to know.

In rec we play then ref. Whats bad about that? It doesn't matter, all the teams are scattered anyways, neither team will have an advantage or disadvantage besides player skill.

If you want to see that kind of stuff look into NPPL history. Last year Nurv got screwed over by NPPL refs like big time.

I think you just need to take a minute and think about it.

You sound like you've quit already. Maybe you're part of the reason paintball is dying?

I feel like we need more refs. Maybe get some kind of rotation in for reffing? So the same people don't have to ref over and over. I dunno, just trying to think of some ideas. Maybe you should try and do the same Silas? Instead of just shooting down anything someone says on here? Maybe that idea is crazy too...

He is saying tournies need refs that aren't actively playing in the SAME tourney, and yes that happened last year.

Not everyone that has quit playing in the last 3 years has done so because their priorities changed. Many did so because they didn't like the way things were going and it wasn't worth the costs.

That's pretty much the same input I got from talking with people (since I moved here) whom I approached wearing a pb related shirt. I got a lot of "it's bull**** here" and "I'd rather spend my money on other things cuz it's so ****ed up here."

There has to be some merit to what people have told me. But I know that a good attitude is contagious too.

It would be great to have a team to represent AK at events abroad. I wouldn't be able to commit to play but I'm willing to help out where I can. I've done some coaching

The biggest hurdle that I see is finances. The industry (pb) will not help out in a significant way, so forget them. They got enough to deal with. I remember after years of shooting Draxxus, they dumped us due to cutbacks. That really hurt us and after years of being spoiled, we had to buy our own paint at events.

But for a one time thing where it is out of wallet, I think an event later in the season, say Cup, would be a great goal. PFDs could pay for the trip

In my experience, as long as everyone has the fundamentals down and keeps playing and doing drills on their own, you only need to get the whole team together say once a month to mesh. Of course, more the better, but I think you can see where I'm getting at with this.
