Band of Brothers

Alright, so I'm playing around with the idea of setting up a 5 man tournament at Band of Brothers paintball in the month of April. As most of you may know, Band of Brothers is the "new" Paintball Hill. The new owners have put in a lot of hard work to make the field what it is now. Lexington Exodus will also be putting in many man hours in the time to come to make the field that much better. At the end of last year they bought a psp field which is a huge accomplishment for paintball in this area of the state of kentucky.

My goal here is to bring business to this up and coming field. I wanted to know how many people/teams would be interested in playing a 5 man here. This is pretty much just a suggestion thread. Give me ideas to help make this tournament the best I can for you, the players. I'm thinking it'll go something this this. 5 man open, 12.5 psp ramp, round robin format. Byop will be allowed but you will be charged a small fee for bringing paint. Field paint will also be sold on site. There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The more teams that sign up, the cash prizes will increase in value. I will also be able to cut deals for teams that bring other teams. Meaning if you invite a team, they show up and vouch for your invitation, you will get a price cut on either entry fee or you will not be charged for byop.

So here is my questions for you. What is a fair price for the entry fee? I was thinking $175 per team ($35 per person). The price will be lowered if entry is paid in advance through paypal. What is a fair price for byop per case? what can I do to attract teams? I will need a minimum of ten teams to make this happen.

Prizes example:
1st x amount of $
2nd half of what is paid for first
3rd money back for entry

Trophies will also be awarded to each team 1st - 3rd.

If this tournament is a big hit, there will also be events held in June and August (there are no MSXL or SEPS events in either of those months).

Perhaps you should contribute a little more into your own idea before asking everyone essentially how to do it. We have plenty of AMAZING series' that are within half the driving distance of KY (For most players). Please give me one good reason as to why we should choose yours...

And no, cash prizes and low entry fees are not going to be it.

From the sounds of it, you have never put on a tournament before have you? You're asking a lot of basic questions that any event organizer should already know off the top of their head. Best of luck with your event.

That's not true, I mean yeah of course I want my home field to gain some income from this. Every field puts on events for that reason but my actual intentions are to just host a fun tournament for players. That's why I'm asking people what they would want in this event. There really isn't any local events put on by just a field anymore. MSXL and SEPS have dominated the tournament scene for the last few years. I personally miss these types of events and I assumed other people would as well. If you choose not to play this event because this is the first one I've organized or it doesn't seem like it's worth the drive, you're not hurting my feelings lol.

I myself have never organized an entire event. I've helped in the organization of a few 3 man and pump events but never a tournament of this caliber. Like I said to the person above, I ask so many questions because I want to know what players would want/expect out of this event. Especially to make it worth the drive from Ohio.

As of now it's looking like the 7th.

We have a minimum of 6 - 8 refs on the field during every game. We will also have a professional photographer at the event taking pictures for free as well have someone recording games.
